About the Mississippi Mud Monsters
The Mississippi Mud Monsters are a young professional baseball team entering our second season in Pearl. We are building something intentionally, rooted in community, creativity, and the belief that baseball is better when it feels human, joyful, and connected.
We care about winning games. We care just as much about telling great stories. Our broadcast is not background noise. It is how fans meet our players, understand the game, and fall in love with this team.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone to become our Media Relations & Broadcast Assistant to help our Director of Broadcasting & Storytelling in major ways. Our Broadcaster has a vision for things both in the broadcast booth and beyond.
This is an assistant level role that is primarily focused on the production side, assisting in the execution of creating a broadcast and creative media style that’s energetic, fun and uniquely Mud Monsters.
The role will also contribute to written content, including game recaps, features and creative pieces that highlight our players not just as athletes, but as personalities, teammates and members of the community.
There will also be opportunities for growth on the microphone, with the potential to step into a color commentator role as the season progresses.
Working closely with the Director of Broadcasting & Storytelling, this position plays a key role in bringing the Mud Monsters brand to life in creative and engaging ways.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Mud Monsters live game media and content operations.
- Work under our Director of Broadcasting & Storytelling, helping produce, write and edit game recaps, game notes, rosters, etc.
- Help with the production and roll out of Reelin’ In the Monsters – Our weekly podcast show.
- Assist our Director of Broadcasting & Storytelling with all game-related data collection and statistical tracking.
- Help with producing and editing pregame and postgame shows, including features and assistance in coordinating interviews.
- Represent the Mud Monsters alongside our play-by-play Broadcaster at media events, announcements, and community moments.
- Aid in the creation of lineups, box scores, media credentials, etc.
- Growth opportunities, including the potential to contribute on air as a color commentator.
What We’re Looking For
- A person who is detail oriented, adaptable and passionate about the sport of baseball, storytelling and game-day sports media production.
- Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Audition and Adobe Premiere Pro is strongly preferred.
- Experience or familiarity with sports writing or writing in general.
- A person who is creative under pressure and time constraints and excited about pushing the boundaries of what a baseball broadcast can be.
The Details
- Seasonal internship position based at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi.
- Home games are broadcast live from the ballpark.
- Nights, weekends, and baseball hours apply.
- $750 per month stipend
