City Director Job Description
Pro Skills Basketball is looking for the “Navy Seals” of youth basketball.

Please excuse the military comparison, but we are looking for the best-of-the-best youth basketball leaders to become our next City Directors in new geographic markets. We are looking for men and women of high character and grit who see the problems in youth basketball and want to join an elite team focused on a singular mission: to change the culture of youth basketball.

And like the Seals, this job is not easy, glamorous, or often fun. In fact, it’s really hard and very few have the desire, passion, and fortitude to make it work, but for those that do, it is often the most rewarding and fulfilling job of their career.

Starting initially as a part-time paid position, we are looking for individuals who want to work in youth basketball full time, as the goal for each and every City Director is to grow his/her city to the point where it can be a full-time job.

Pro Skills Basketball City Directors all:
  • Have a strong knowledge of basketball with a passion for teaching, coaching, and mentoring
  • Are willing to commit time and effort outside of their full-time job to building PSB to one day being big enough to support a full-time City Director position
  • Work well with a team and are reliable, organized, and communicative. Our leaders can follow instructions to a T, are rarely late or absent, and communicate in a clear and timely manner with all stakeholders
  • Are constantly looking to improve and grow themselves and their PSB city
  • Confidently and professionally manage and control all on-court and business operations of PSB in that city
  • Always ensure the physical and psychological safety of all participants
  • Understand they are the face of Pro Skills Basketball in that city and project values that align with PSB
  • Genuinely care for children’s development
  • Provide and foster a positive and professional coaching environment for players, parents, and staff

The responsibilities of a City Director are many, and include but are not limited to:
  • Starting from zero, building PSB in your city and working to grow the number of players/teams in your city year over year
  • Hiring, managing, and retaining the highest quality of coaches
  • Organizing, arranging and communicating practice, workout, and game schedules for all teams
  • Registering teams for tournaments and leagues
  • Finding gym space and managing all gym rental agreements for practices, clinics and workouts
  • Keeping operating expenses in line with the city budget
  • Executing grassroots marketing strategies
  • Contributing to PSB social media accounts according to PSB guidelines
  • Respectfully and clearly handling problems and issues as they arise

We repeat: This job is hard. PSB’s Support Staff helps to make it simple for our City
Directors, but that doesn't mean the work is easy. We cannot stress this enough - being a PSB City Director is often a grind requiring an extraordinary amount of hustle. It’s truly not for everyone. In fact, it’s not for most people.

However, maybe you are one of the few who is willing to join a high-performing team committed to changing the culture of youth basketball? Do you think you have what it takes?
