Job Overview
MADE Hoops is seeking a passionate and driven individual, with experience in basketball event management, operations, and customer relations/engagement. The Girls Sales and Events Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing various MADE Hoops girls events, including its camps, circuits, and tournaments nationally. Though this position is remote, some travel is required.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for basketball, strong communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee planning and execution of girls events nationally, including camps, circuits, and tournaments.
- Contribute to company sales team meetings to help facilitate event execution.
- Serve as a point of contact with venues & customers for all girls events, overseeing all aspects of events from initial concept to event execution.
- Clearly and effectively communicate with events staff, operations staff and others to ensure proper execution of events.
- Assist with sourcing potential venues for future girls events.
- Collaborate with other departments (including marketing), to create a cohesive event strategy.
- Represent MADE Hoops in a professional, positive, and ethical manner.
- Create events budgets in collaboration with the Director of Finance and Assistant General Manager.
- Maintain record of all event-related expenses and work with the Director of Finance for invoicing, and to track and grow event revenues.
- Maintain and update key databases, including Google Sheets and Monday.com, to optimize workflow and event organization.
- Partner with all company departments to maximize industry relationships.
- Facilitate strategic communication by scheduling meetings, recording key updates, and providing executive support to the Senior Director of Events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in Sports Management, Business, or related field.
- Previous experience in event management and/or event sales.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in the customer service context.
- Highly organized with exceptional multitasking capabilities and the ability to manage multiple interactions simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and within a team.
- Aptitude to learn new skills and implement strategies.
- Comfortable and able to thrive in a high-energy, fast paced environment.
- Ability to perform some manual labor for event set up and break down.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- Experience or knowledge of youth, AAU, middle school, high school, and college athletics.
- 3+ years of event operations or event sales experience.
- Genuine passion for basketball and a basic understanding of grassroots basketball (specifically pertaining to MADE’s role in basketball).
- Prior sales or other equivalent experience that requires exceptional customer service.
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
- Proficient in all Google Drive applications, including but not limited to Google Sheets and other Google applications.
