MADE Hoops is the premier grassroots basketball events organization in North America. Founded in 2014, our mission has always been Maximizing Athletes’ Development and Exposure (MADE). We host 100+ boys and girls basketball events annually, including competitive camps for all ages, middle school and high school tournaments, and the top independent high school circuit in the country. We're proud to have countless McDonald's All-Americans, NCAA athletes, and NBA stars among our alumni. In addition to hosting events, MADE Hoops has a robust commercial division supported by merchandise, brand partnerships, scouting, content and digital marketing business lines.

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of People & Culture who will be responsible for creating the programs and processes that shape our employee experience, from talent acquisition to long-term development, ensuring that MADE Hoops is a premier destination for top talent.

This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on HR professional who thrives in building scalable HR systems to support a unique company with a highly competitive culture. The perfect candidate will have a deep passion for developing talent and fostering a high-performance culture, with a strong background in the sports and events landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Strategy & Acquisition
  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process for all departments.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy that attracts diverse, high-potential candidates who align with MADE Hoops’ mission.
  • Design, implement, and execute upon a structured university relations and internship program to build a pipeline of future employees and leaders.
  • Leverage their experience, network, and industry relationships to identify and engage passive candidates for key roles.
  • Utilize knowledge and experience of relevant salary expectations within the sports industry.

Employee Experience & Culture Development
  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Formalize and oversee an onboarding process that effectively integrates new hires into the company culture and sets them up for success.
  • Partner with and support company leadership to create and implement clear career development pathways and employee growth plans.
  • Champion MADE Hoops’ core values and act as a key culture-carrier across the organization.

Performance Management & Organizational Structure
  • Establish and manage a company-wide performance management process, including the implementation of an OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework to drive elite performance, alignment, and accountability.
  • Provide support to managers and leadership on employee relations, performance feedback, and team development.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to streamline and align org chart and ensure organizational structure continues to support the company's strategic business objectives.

HR Operations & Compliance
  • Ensure legal compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Support, revise,, and maintain (when necessary) all HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Support and liason benefits administration, compensation analysis, and HR information systems (HRIS).

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive HR or People Operations experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership/decision-making role.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar HR certification is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience within the amateur or professional sports, events, or entertainment industries.
  • Working understanding of the business dynamics of youth sports, including club teams, facility management, and large-scale event operations.
  • Proven track record of successfully designing and implementing core HR programs from the ground up (e.g., recruiting, onboarding, performance management, internship programs).
  • Strong network and existing relationships within the sports, events, and tourism (CVB) sectors.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR compliance, employment law, and best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to inform people-related decisions and strategies.
  • Passion for sports, basketball, youth development, and building competitive, high-performing teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for events as required.
