Charlottesville Blues FC is a summer preprofessional soccer team that competes in the USLW. We bring top college athletes from around the country to compete at a high level while serving and engaging with the Charlottesville community.

Player safety is a top priority for the organization. We are seeking a qualified healthcare professional to serve as our on-site medical provider for all practice, away, and home games for our Women's team.

Position Overview

The Athletic Trainer will serve as the primary medical point of contact during all the Charlottesville Blues women’s practices, away games, and home games. Home games and practices take place at Charlottesville High School.  This individual will be responsible for evaluating and responding to in-game injuries, providing immediate care, coordinating next steps if referral is necessary, and providing rehabilitation/treatment as needed.

This role is critical to ensuring players’ safety. You will work closely with the coaching staff and the organization's game-day staff. 

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and be present for 10 games: 4 away and 6 home games (May-June schedule); additional matches if the team makes the playoffs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for any in-game injury or medical concern
  • Evaluate injuries and determine appropriate care or return-to-play guidance
  • Provide basic emergency care and stabilization as needed
  • Coordinate with local EMS when advanced care or transport is required
  • Maintain communication with coaching staff regarding player status
  • Document incidents as required by team policy
  • Assist with basic pre-game taping or minor treatment if needed
Qualifications
We welcome applicants with the following credentials:

  • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
Required:

  • Current, active BOC certification
  • Current, active VA Athletic Training Licensure
  • CPR/AED certification
  • Experience responding to sports-related injuries or emergency situations
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure
Preferred:

  • Experience working with soccer and collegiate
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset. There is another Athletic Trainer who will be able to help with coverage as needed
Time Commitment

  • Practice coverage numerous times a week, in the morning from 9:30-11:30. Practice schedule available upon request with receipt of job application.  Times subject to change.
  • 10 home games (primarily Wednesday evenings and Saturdays). Schedule available upon request with receipt of job application
  • Games are approximately 90 minutes in duration.  There is no overtime until the playoffs.
  • Arrive 1 hour before the game for taping and treatments. Arrive 45 minutes prior to practices for taping and treatments.

Pay: Commiserate upon experience and payable as a monthly stipend on or around the middle of each month.
