Camp Laurel South, among the most prestigious, well-respected camps in the country, is seeking a qualified Hockey Counselor for the summer of 2026. We offer quality instruction designed to allow children to participate in activities they love, while also allowing them to explore new and exciting opportunities. Your primary goal is to create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters skill development, teamwork, and a love for the sport of hockey.

Responsibilities:
Lesson Planning and Instruction:
  • Develop and implement engaging hockey drills and activities for campers.
  • Provide hands-on instruction to enhance fundamental skills such as shooting, passing, skating, and teamwork.
Skill Development:
  • Assess campers' hockey abilities and tailor instruction to their skill levels.
  • Focus on individual and group skill development, emphasizing proper techniques and strategies for hockey.
Gameplay and Strategy:
  • Organize and oversee friendly hockey games and competitions.
  • Teach campers the rules of the game and instill an understanding of hockey strategy.
Safety and Equipment Management:
  • Ensure a safe and organized hockey environment.
  • Monitor the use and condition of hockey equipment, reporting any issues and ensuring proper storage.
Teamwork and Sportsmanship:
  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and good sportsmanship in the context of hockey. 
  • Encourage a positive atmosphere where campers support each other both on and off the rink.
Adaptability:
  • Be flexible and adaptable to accommodate campers with varying skill levels and learning styles.
  • Adjust plans as needed based on camper feedback and progress.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in coaching or playing hockey preferred.
  • Knowledge of hockey fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with campers of different ages and skill levels.
Duration: We are looking for a two-month commitment June 16th - August 17th. We offer room and board for the time you are working at camp. Interested applicants, please send a cover letter detailing your interest in working with children and resume. We look forward to hearing from you!
