Academy Camps is an overnight sports-specific sleepaway experience that takes place on the campus of Suffield Academy (CT). We are looking for an experienced Sports Photographer to be a member of our media team to help tell our camp story and create content for our 2026 summer season.
Who we are
Academy Camps is a
modern approach to the sports camp experience. We offer 1-week sessions for Boys & Girls aged 10 - 15 interested in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, squash, swimming, tennis & volleyball. Our campers choose one of our 8 "Academy Sports" and receive 2 intensive training sessions per day with our high-performance coaching staff.
We are a dedicated team of high performance coaches, nurturing & exemplary counselors, and experienced camp professionals, passionate about the 'whole athlete'. Outside of sports specific training sessions, AC is distinguished in delivering programming focused on its pillars of Performance, Wellness, Mindset, and Leadership mixed in with a healthy dose of fun through a daily schedule of traditional sleepaway camp activities.
Position
As a member of the AC Team, the Photographer will be responsible for capturing daily photo content of our athletes and coaches. These photos help share the magic of camp with our athlete’s families back at home and with our larger camp coaching community year-round. The role requires capturing at least one image of every camper per day and uploading all photos each evening so parents and caregivers see the magic in real-time. The images will also be shared on our social media throughout the summer and year-round.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Capture ~300-500 photos of athletes and coaches per day
- Upload all photos to shared drive for internal review every evening
- Post final photo selection to our CampInTouch software every evening
- Prepare for, accept feedback, and constructively problem-solve during supervision sessions
Your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A background in sports photography with a keen eye for capturing emotion
- Drive to complete work efficiently to meet daily deadlines
- Ownership or access to professional grade camera and editing equipment, preferred but not required
- Bonus points if you can capture and edit video!
- Self-motivated, strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities at once
- An excellent relationship builder - quick to connect, build trust, and rapport
- A creative problem-solver - proactive, anticipates problems, and asks for help when needed
- A growth mindset - an orientation towards learning and development; willing to receive and implement feedback and learn from mistakes
Expectations, Compensation, and Benefits
- Available and on-site for the dates of the full summer session including staff pre-season training and post-camp: June 22 - August 8
- The AC compensation package is competitive and is commensurate with skills and experience. Compensation for a full summer commitment is $3,000 - 5,000 and includes room and board. Travel stipends are provided to support relocation.
