Job Overview

The Flag Football Sport Event Manager reports to the Director of Sports and the President of the AAU and will work primarily with Flag Football and its growth in with the AAU. The Event Manager will be responsible with the management and designated duties within the Flag Football event world. This includes but is not limited to, retaining and creating new memberships, event planning and operations, event and sport sponsorships, marketing and promotions (with the help of marketing department). Candidates seeking a collaborative environment, working with people passionate about youth sports and wanting to make an impact on a national recognized organization are needed. This position is located in the AAU National Office in Lake Bunea Vista, FL. Extended hours may be required during events to include evenings, holidays, and weekends. Moderate travel is required.

Summary of Job Duties

  • Creating and retaining AAU Flag Football memberships.
  • Researching potential events and areas to host events.
  • Assist in event planning, logistics and onsite event operation for AAU Flag Football events. Including scheduling, registration, bringing in volunteer workers, etc.
  • Work with President and Director of Sports in the establishment of program rules, policies, and goals.
  • Provide customer service to National and District leadership, participating teams, coaches and any members including answering phone calls, emails and other inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain written support materials such as entry packets and flyers for National Championships and other events.
  • Coordinate, provide and update all sport specific information for the national sport website.
  • Work directly with the online event and membership registration systems.
  • Create monthly membership reports and analyze data for trends within the sport.
  • Study and recommend potential opportunities for growth and initiate new events
  • Research and recommend potential partners and sponsors for the sports
  • Work with National Sponsors to be at events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Sports Management, Event Management or similar field
  • Must have 3-5 years experience, be organized and able to work through a project with little supervision
  • Self-starter who can handle researching the sport and recommending ideas to grow the sport
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible in thinking and problem solving
  • Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs as designated
