Make a Difference This Summer
Tamarack Day Camp is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Camp Counselors to join our summer staff. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a key role in creating a safe, fun, and supportive environment where campers build friendships, confidence, and lifelong memories.
This position is ideal for high school juniors and seniors, college students, educators, and individuals who enjoy working with children and being part of a strong team.
Position Overview
Camp Counselors are responsible for the daily supervision, care, and engagement of a group of campers. Counselors work closely with co-counselors, specialists, and supervisors to ensure each camper has a positive and rewarding camp experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage a group of campers throughout the camp day
- Actively participate in activities including sports, swimming, creative arts, and special events
- Support campers socially and emotionally while promoting positive behavior
- Assist specialists during activities and help maintain organization and safety
- Help with transitions, attendance, and camper accountability
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding camper needs or concerns
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating enthusiasm, responsibility, and teamwork
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times
- Participate in staff training, meetings, and camp-wide events
Qualifications
- Enjoy working with children ages 3–15
- Positive attitude, strong energy, and willingness to be hands-on and engaged
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Responsible, reliable, and punctual
- Ability to commit to the full camp summer
- Prior camp or childcare experience preferred, but not required
