About Tamarack Day Camp
Tamarack Day Camp is a premier summer day camp located in Randolph, New Jersey, serving children ages 3–15. Our program focuses on fun, growth, creativity, and character development in a supportive and upbeat environment. Camp runs Monday through Friday, June 29 through August 21, and all 39 days of camp are required for employment.
Position Overview
The Drama Specialist is responsible for planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate drama activities for campers. This role emphasizes creativity, self-expression, confidence-building, and collaboration through theater games, improvisation, skits, and performance-based activities. The Drama Specialist will also play a key role in producing Tamarack’s camp-wide drama performance.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead daily drama activities for assigned camper groups
- Create a fun, inclusive, and encouraging environment for campers of all experience levels
- Teach basic acting skills, improvisation, storytelling, and stage presence
- Teach and coordinate the camp drama show, including scenes, songs, and dances
- Rehearse and prepare campers for performances and special events
- Collaborate with counselors and camp leadership to support the overall show production
- Manage group behavior while maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere
- Communicate effectively with counselors and supervisors to ensure smooth transitions and strong camper experiences
- Maintain safety and organization within the drama area at all times
- Serve as a positive role model and uphold Tamarack’s core values
Qualifications
- Experience or background in theater, drama, acting, musical theater, or performing arts preferred
- Comfort working with children ages 3–15
- Energetic, creative, and enthusiastic personality
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to adapt instruction for different age groups and abilities
- Reliable, responsible, and able to commit to the full camp season
Schedule & Compensation
- Camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–4:00 PM
- No weekends
- Additional paid opportunities may be available
- Transportation to camp may be possible
- A paid bonus will be awarded upon successful completion of the camp drama show
