Tamarack Day Camp is seeking a responsible, energetic Boating & Fishing Specialist to lead our waterfront programming and create safe, exciting experiences for campers. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being outdoors, teaching hands-on skills, and working with children in a fun, structured environment.
Position Overview
The Boating & Fishing Specialist is responsible for planning and supervising boating and fishing activities for campers ages 3–15. Safety is the top priority in this role, and the specialist will work closely with camp leadership to ensure all waterfront activities are run responsibly and professionally.
Responsibilities
Lead daily boating and fishing activities in a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate manner
Teach campers basic boating skills, fishing techniques, and water safety awareness
Supervise campers on and around the water at all times
Inspect and maintain boating and fishing equipment to ensure proper and safe use
Enforce all camp and waterfront safety rules and procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-managed activity area
Communicate effectively with counselors and supervisors to support camper safety and enjoyment
Participate in staff training, meetings, and special camp events
Lifeguard Certification Requirement
All Boating & Fishing Specialists must be lifeguard certified.
If hired, Tamarack Day Camp will pay for your lifeguard certification if you are not already certified prior to the summer.
Qualifications
Comfort and experience around water environments
Experience with boating and/or fishing preferred
Strong leadership and supervision skills
Ability to work with children in a group setting
Calm, attentive, and safety-focused mindset
Reliable and able to commit to the full camp season
Schedule & Commitment
Camp runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
All 39 days of camp are required for employment
No weekends
