Job Description
Do you love soccer? Well now is your chance to help thousands of Volo players to have amazing experiences.
In this role, you will help coordinate Volo’s soccer leagues around the DMV. This includes being a daily presence at soccer leagues, communicating clearly with players, evaluating and supporting our refs. You will also have the ability to impact the short, medium, and long term soccer strategy as a way to improve the sport.
You will work ~2-9pm, Monday through Thursday. You will also have the opportunity to work on the weekends.
As a Commissioner, you will receive our normal staff perks such as free leagues, discounted Volo Pass, etc. Additionally, you will receive soccer commissioner only perks such as exclusive soccer specific merchandise and free tickets to professional soccer events.
Responsibilities
- SPORT PRODUCT & PERFORMANCE
- Assure quality, control, and strength of programs through site visits and serve as a site lead for programs whenever necessary
- Spearhead league audit & evaluation
- Spearhead ref audit & evaluation
- SPORTS LEAGUE OPERATIONS
- Provide on-field support
- Handle player communication - sending all emails for assigned sport leagues
- Maintain equipment for assigned sports including ordering replacements, noting damages, and reporting to the market’s equipment lead
- Maintain fields as needed based on weather, location, and sport-specific requirements
- Set up & take down fields and gather up equipment
- Handle player communication - sending all emails for assigned sport leagues
- CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Act a first line of communication for soccer players
- Resolve any emerging problems that our customers might face with accuracy and efficiency
- Anticipate and provide proactive solutions to prevent problems from arising in the future
- Act as an escalation point for player, parent, partner, and volunteers
- Call & text sport captains during league registration time
- TALENT DEVELOPMENT
- Support training in your market for internal referees
- Recruit, mentor, and ensure quality staff and product – includes reviewing sport-specific league audits
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of soccer rules and regulations from time as a player, ref, and/or coach
- Must be available to work evenings
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Works well in a team atmosphere
- Ability to multi-task and make decisions under pressure
- Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds
- Possess a positive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate clearly
- Proficient customer service skills
- High School Diploma /GED Equivalency
Must-Haves
- Interest in sports and social activities
- Soccer knowledge is a plus
- Strong attention to detail
