ROLE SUMMARY
This role is for you if you are passionate about developing people, believe in the power of play, and enjoy gathering performance data. The nature of this position centers around our part-time employees who deliver on our player experience standards. Our business is out on the field, so be prepared to spend time out at leagues interacting with our players and our staff. You will lead our local staffing leads on building a vibrant host community dedicated to delivering the best player experience in Boston. Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Standardizing platforms and resources to ensure success
    • Use project management tools to structure, assign, and keep staffing on track throughout their part-time staff management cycle
    • Part-time staff & 1099 employee payroll forecasting and staying in line with Volo product standards for expenses as well as city budgets for these categories.
    • Lead the implementation of local recruitment, training, evaluation, and culture best practices for our part-time employees
    • Overseeing that the Boston market has all shifts for league & event staff - including hosts and refs, are in the scheduling software at least two weeks in advance
    • Update scheduling software to reflect the completion of shifts & support payroll as needed
    • Develop a plan for KPIs/milestones and track progress to ensure local staffing teams are performing to the Volo Standard
    • Owns part-time staff communication platforms and processes

  • Centralized staff training and development for part-time staff and interns
    • Manage the development and presentation of staff and volunteer training by working with City leadership, the sports operations team, and Sports Product Manager to ensure training needs are identified, planned, aligned, and addressed
      • Adjust/improve curricula for existing products based on product changes and enhancements and/or needs of the market
    • Provide in-person support based on city needs. 

  • Recruitment, retention, and appreciation efforts for Part-Time staff, and Interns.
    • Lead processes of recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and evaluating part-time talent to run our leagues and events
    • Lead initiatives for engagement and support--including pre-season training, mid-season check-ins, and end-of-season celebrations
    • Oversee Staff & Volunteer feedback review & analysis
    • Grow the staff & volunteer community and culture through special perks and events
    • Lead initiatives focused on culture, diversity, and inclusion as they relate to part-time staff, interns, and volunteers including but not limited to:
      • Volo Awards: Part-Time Staff Awards typically hosted in Q4 celebrating the wins of the year recognizing local and national top performers
      • Volo Games: Part-Time Staff Appreciation Field Day
      • Responsible for the management of the annual P/T experience budget, by city. Any adjustments are brought to the MD for approval.

  • Sports Product
    • Assure quality control and strength of programs through site visits and serve as a site lead for programs whenever necessary
      • Reviews program ratings and takes corrective action through the part-time staff with support from the Managing Director and Sport Coordinators
      • Spearheads league audits & evaluations to achieve NPS KPIs 
      • Tracks the needs of each site including improvements and works with the Logistics team to improve throughout the season
      • Spearheads the surprise and delight player appreciation program as well as captain loyalty initiatives with the support of the Logistics team.

  • Bar Sponsorship
    • Own bar communications for league sponsor bars
      • Communication with bars (GM’s, Managers, etc.) prior to season to let them know when we will be there, confirm bar specials and any details needed in partnership with the Field Marketing & Partnerships Director
      • Maintain communication with bars throughout the season
      • Resolve issues with exiting bar relationships and identify and secure replacement bars as needed to ensure an excellent player and part-time staff experience
      • Supports Field Marketing & Partnerships Director with new bar outreach as needed

DESIRED SKILLS + EXPERIENCE
  • Experience managing a large customer-facing part-time staff workforce
  • 4-5 years of professional experience ideally in training or sports programming  
  • Familiarity with the social sports industry (as a player or employee) and its typical schedule and calendar
  • Experience in sport or event management and/or business development capacity
  • Can navigate a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong ability to execute in a cross-functional and startup environment
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Can marshal resources effectively and comfortably navigate a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dynamic personality interested in working in, and contributing to, the industry leader in adult recreational sports 
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
