Job Description
Softball Umpires are responsible for managing games, enforcing rules, and creating a fun, fair, and social playing environment. This role is all about keeping the game moving, making confident calls, and contributing to a positive experience for all players. This is a part-time role, perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, loves the game of softball, and thrives in a social, team-oriented environment.
Softball Umpires are responsible for managing games, enforcing rules, and creating a fun, fair, and social playing environment. This role is all about keeping the game moving, making confident calls, and contributing to a positive experience for all players. This is a part-time role, perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, loves the game of softball, and thrives in a social, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- Officiate softball games and enforce league rules in a fair and consistent manner
- Set up and break down basic field equipment as needed (bases, balls, etc.)
- Transport equipment to and from field locations when required
- Keep games on schedule and maintain game flow throughout the night
- Create a fun, respectful, and safe environment for all players
- Communicate calls clearly and confidently while maintaining professionalism
- Manage player interactions and help de-escalate any on-field conflicts
- Report any incidents, injuries, or issues to the Volo team
Qualifications:
- Prior softball or baseball experience required (playing or officiating)
- Must be available to work weeknights
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment to and from field locations
- Comfortable making calls in a fast-paced, social environment
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the field
- Reliable transportation to and from field locations
