League Host/Referee responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Update league scores in our host app
- Encourage and maintain a quality experience throughout the league
- Must be available at least 1 day per week from 5:30pm-10:30pm for at least eight weeks
- Other league-day preparations, such as court setup and supervision
- Use host app to check in players as needed
- Execute fundraising activities to support kids programs
- Promote events and upcoming leagues via social media and on-field selling including help distribute marketing materials
- Make players meet & feel welcome
Referee responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe, fun, social and fair environment for all players
- Understand and kindly and fairly enforce each sport’s rules
- Communicate with the office regarding any equipment, rule issues, player issues, etc.
Qualifications
- Officiate Volleyball games by enforcing the Volo rules and regulations
- Make quick and accurate decisions regarding fouls, violations, and points
- Communicate effectively with players, hosts, and other officials
- Monitor game clock and manage timeouts and intervals
- Inspect and setup game equipment and facilities
- Must have strong knowledge of volleyball rules and gameplay, with prior playing experience required
- Ability to focus strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral communication skills to players, able to project voice across the court or field
- Works well in a team atmosphere
- Maintain control of the game to ensure player safety and fair competition
- Report any incidents or altercations to the appropriate authorities
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs
- Ability to multi-task and make decisions under pressure
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Possess a positive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate clearly
- Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends
- Proficient customer service skills
- High School Diploma /GED Equivalency
