Title: IMG State Team – Assistant Football Coach, Seasonal
FLSA Classification: Seasonal (June–December)

Position Summary: The IMG State Team Assistant Football Coach plays a key role in supporting the daily operations and competitive success of the IMG Academy State Team football program. This position assists the head coach in the development of high-level student-athletes while helping deliver a professional, structured training and competition environment that reflects the standards of IMG Academy football.

The assistant coach contributes to all aspects of the program including practice planning, position development, game preparation, student-athlete mentorship, and overall team operations. This role works collaboratively with the football staff, performance team, and academic support personnel to ensure each student-athlete is progressing athletically, academically, and personally while competing at a high level.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach in the planning and execution of daily football practices and training sessions.
  • Provide position-specific instruction and skill development to IMG State Team student-athletes.
  • Support game preparation through opponent breakdown, film review, scouting reports, and practice implementation.
  • Evaluate student-athlete performance and track development throughout the season.
  • Help prepare student-athletes mentally and physically for practices, games, and competitive events.
  • Promote a disciplined, competitive, and team-oriented culture consistent with IMG Academy standards.
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model for student-athletes both on and off the field.
  • Collaborate with performance coaches, athletic trainers, and academic staff to support the holistic development of each student-athlete.
  • Assist in identifying and promoting college recruiting opportunities through athlete evaluations and film support.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes and internal staff regarding expectations, performance, and development.
  • Support operational aspects of the program including team travel, game-day logistics, and special events.
  • Ensure a safe and structured environment for all training sessions and competitions.
  • Travel with the team to games, showcases, and recruiting events as required.
  • Adhere to all IMG Academy policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by football program leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Experience coaching and/or playing football at the collegiate or professional level preferred.
  • Strong understanding of football fundamentals, position techniques, and practice organization.
  • Ability to teach and develop student-athletes in a high-performance training environment.
  • Strong commitment to the development of student-athletes on the field, in the classroom, and as individuals.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative sports performance model.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to mentor and positively influence high school student-athletes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience coaching high school or elite-level football.
  • Experience working within a boarding school or academy environment.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • CPR/AED Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with team travel.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to move throughout campus facilities including practice fields, weight rooms, and meeting spaces.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and demonstrate football drills during practices.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the football season.
