Position Summary:

The Baseball Operations Intern will support the collection, analysis, and communication of player data and video across the pitching or hitting departments for 12 weeks. This individual will assist with game and practice video, support player development initiatives, and contribute to internal reporting and technology management. This position is ideal for candidates with a growth mindset and a desire to work at the intersection of baseball, technology, and player development.

Position Responsibilities (General):

  • Schedule practices and games through Playsight, ensuring proper coverage of baseball activities
  • Assist with setup, operation, and troubleshooting of baseball technology (e.g., Trackman, Blast, Edgertronic, Synergy)
  • Collect, organize, and upload video and performance data for use in player development and recruiting
  • Manage the video archive and upload game footage into Synergy within 24–48 hours of completion
  • Record, clip, and edit video for recruiting, player development, and social media content
  • Edit video clips together as requested by coaches, players, or parents
  • Create and maintain graphics using collected data (weekly, monthly, or seasonal trends)
  • Help standardize data communication to athletes and staff in a clear, digestible format
  • Observe practices, bullpens, and games, supporting the coaching staff as permitted
  • Maintain equipment and support upkeep of training facilities (e.g., covered cages)
  • Support and learn team operations and logistics as needed

Video & Technology Management Responsibilities

  • Actively maintain and monitor camera equipment, including:
    • Playsight systems (monitor angles, outages, and adjustments; communicate with vendors/campus IT for repairs)
    • Playsight Mobile cameras and mounting equipment
    • Sony RX10 High-Speed Camera
    • Panasonic HC-V180 Handheld Cameras
    • Edgertronic Cameras
  • Set up, record, and upload videos of bullpens (high-speed and standard)
  • Manage recruiting video libraries and ensure athletes have up-to-date film

Pitching Specific Responsibilities:

  • Operate Trackman and video during bullpens, practices, and intrasquads
  • Monitor pitching trends and performance data (e.g., velocity, movement, release height)
  • Generate progress reports using bullpen sheets and Trackman data
  • Set up and record bullpens using high-speed cameras (Edgertronic/Sony RX10)
  • Shadow or support pitching coaches, when appropriate and approved

Hitting Specific Responsibilities:

  • Operate portable Trackman and Blast during BP and cage sessions
  • Assist with timing, flow, and video collection during hitter development work
  • Track swing metrics, performance trends, and tag intrasquad or live game data
  • Collect and edit high-speed video for hitter development sessions
  • Identify areas for improvement and assist with development plans as requested
  • Observe hitters during games to monitor progression
  • Shadow or support hitting/defensive coaches, when appropriate and approved

Qualifications:

  • Experience playing or working in baseball at the collegiate, professional, or elite amateur level
  • Familiarity with advanced baseball technology and analytics platforms (Trackman, Blast, Synergy, etc.)
  • Understanding of baseball fundamentals and player development concepts
  • Basic knowledge of video setup and handling (e.g., Panasonic camcorders, high-speed cameras)
  • Strong communication skills; able to translate data and video into actionable insights for coaches and players
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university, looking to gain hands-on experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Edgertronic or other high-speed camera systems
  • Prior experience with video editing and tagging software (e.g., Synergy, BATS, Adobe Premiere)
  • Experience managing video archives and coordinating with vendors or campus IT for equipment support
  • Interest in pursuing a career in player development, baseball operations, or analytics
  • Demonstrated adaptability to work with both traditional and modern baseball mindsets
