The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provideAthletic Training Services to student athletes under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer in accordance withstate athletic training practices. 

 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Manage athletic training coverage for assigned sport, summer camps, external groupsand other sports as needed
  • Managethe prevention, assessment, immediate care, treatmentand rehabilitation/reconditioningof athletic injuriesof student athletes
  • Provide emergency care and first aid at sport/events
  • Appropriate organization and administration of athletic medical records and Athlete Management System (AMS)
  • Evaluate athletes' readiness/willingnessto playand proficient in day-to-day communication of the status of injured athletes to coaches, strength and conditioning coaches,and other stakeholders when warranted
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapistsand other appropriate disciplinesto return athletes safely to participation
  • Communication with coaches, fellow APD colleaguesand athletes
  • Collaborate with other APD divisions (Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science, Nutrition, Mental Conditioning, Leadership, Cognitive Perceptual Training) and participatein interdisciplinary pods with the other APD staff members who work in the same sport(s)
  • Implementing and following the IMG Performance Testing Protocols
  • Be a role model through words, actionsand a positive attitude
  • Day to day upkeep of facilities, cleaningand sanitation as necessary
  • Utilize Coach Now to provide updates to athletes and parents on programming and training
  • Deliver virtual or online sessions as necessary
  • Assistcolleagues for coverage as necessary
  • Travel as necessary pending sport assignment
  • Supervise athletic training room operations
  • Responsible for following all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and guidelines
  • Assistwith organizational tasks as necessary
  • Balance the needs of the business with the needs of the athletes and department
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Adhering to all company policies, proceduresand business ethic codes 
  • Other duties as assigned by Head or Assistant Head Athletic Trainer 

Knowledge, Skillsand Ability   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training
  • National Athletic Trainer’sAssociation Board of Training Certification 
  • Eligible for Florida state licensure
  • Demonstratedexperience in the field of Athletic Training
  • Desire to work as part of a large staff of Athletic Trainers
  • Ability to work with multiple other disciplines
  • Adaptable and flexible to schedule
  • Excellent written and verbal communicationskills 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with colleagues, sport coaches and athletes
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Adaptable and flexible to a dynamic training and work environment

Preferred Skills 

  • Master’sDegree in Athletic Training
  • RelevantAthletic Training experience
  • Bilingual 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift, move, pushand pull equipment orboxes in excess of40lbs
  • Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time
  • Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays as required
