- Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly, paid on Fridays
Position Description & Expectations
The Onsite Support Engineer & Wireless Camera Operator is responsible for:
- Operating and managing the wireless handheld camera during all Sioux Falls Canaries home games.
- Capturing in-game content for live broadcasts and in-venue displays.
- Serving as the primary on-site technical support presence for all VirtCh-owned or managed AV and broadcast systems.
- Conducting system checks, resolving equipment issues, and performing preventative maintenance.
- Assisting with software and firmware updates.
- Supporting system setup and teardown for each homestand.
- Providing remote support for other VirtCh clients during away games.
- Coordinating with the Service & Support Manager and documenting all service activity.
Immediate Responsibilities
VirtCh Production – Onsite Support Engineer & Operator
- Operate the wireless handheld camera for all Sioux Falls Canaries home games, capturing dynamic in-game content for live broadcasts, in-venue displays, and video boards.
- Troubleshoot video feeds to the control room as needed, ensuring consistent camera signal quality throughout the game.
- Conduct full systems checks prior to each homestand, verifying proper functionality of all AV, networking, and broadcast equipment.
- Serve as the first line of technical support during games and events, troubleshooting and resolving issues with VirtCh-owned or managed systems during live productions.
- Coordinate with VirtCh’s Service & Support Manager to escalate or report ongoing equipment issues, failures, or system anomalies.
- Install replacement parts (e.g., cameras, cabling, converters, antennas) shipped by VirtCh, following safety and technical guidelines.
- Perform preventative maintenance routines as assigned to reduce in-game failure risks.
- Assist in software and firmware updates of VirtCh systems (e.g., wireless video transmission, routers, replay, or graphics systems).
- Log and document all service events, equipment changes, and notable broadcast issues in the company’s support ticket tracking system.
- Provide remote support coverage for other VirtCh clients (phone, chat, or remote desktop tools) when the Sioux Falls Canaries are on the road.
- Propose end-of-season system upgrades and workflow improvements, including documentation for capital planning or off-season updates.
- Support the setup and teardown of camera systems and AV components for each homestand.
- Maintain clean and organized equipment areas, cables, and storage, ensuring all gear is protected and secured.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with the production crew, client representatives, and VirtCh management.
- Attend production meetings and team check-ins when required, providing input on system performance and needs.
- Stay informed on wireless video systems and general AV industry best practices to improve support and camera operations.
