Responsibilities
- Work with data scientists, account managers, and software developers to translate business needs of internal and external partners into data science tools
- Access/acquire data from internal and external sources as needed – primarily from relational databases (SQL), but potentially other sources as well
- Build, test, tune, and optimize statistical and/or machine learning models
- Collaborate with software development to take models to production and/or scale them as needed
- Develop necessary products (tools/visualizations/reports/dashboards) to make modeling efforts actionable
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on how to use data science products to drive value
Qualifications
- BA, BS, or MS in an analytical discipline (e.g., Math, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics)
- 0-3 years of work experience
- Excellent understanding of underlying statistical and machine learning principles and their impact on the quality and robustness of predictive models
- Experience with statistical forecasting
- Experience programming with R and/or Python
- Hands-on experience writing SQL queries to extract data from relational databases
- Great problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Flexible and willing to accept changes in priorities as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in driving quantifiable improvements using statistics, mathematical modeling and/or machine learning in a professional setting
- Experience with Revenue Management (RM) models, specifically forecasting and optimization in capacity-constrained environments
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., git)
