VP, PR & Communications
The VP, PR & Communications will work across a variety of high priority company initiatives including brand announcements, launches, events and strategizing for the priorities of Overtime’s business. Overtime is a hybrid workplace, spending 3+ days in office at our DUMBO, Brooklyn location.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with an exceptionally strong network and a sharp instinct for storytelling - someone who knows how to turn relationships, insights, and moments into meaningful coverage. This individual brings proven experience pitching and securing earned media across traditional and social platforms, leveraging deep media and creator relationships to amplify stories that break through. They are a confident, compelling writer who thrives in fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environments, works well under pressure, and values close collaboration. Above all, the ideal candidate is energized by Overtime’s growth and excited to help shape culture across sports and entertainment for the next generation of fans through powerful, authentic storytelling.
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Draft and develop internal and external materials required for announcements including press releases, pitches, media lists and other media communications
- Build and maintain relationships with media, place general trend stories in industry publications
- Lead the award submissions process and apply for relevant speaking engagements
- Collaborate with our official marketing partners on press releases and strategic communications regarding our partnerships
- Work across the C-suite to serve as a media liaison for local, national and international press responsible for responding to all press inquiries
- Define and execute strategies to embed Overtime executives at the most effective podcasts, panels, and speaking opportunities
- Continually bring new creative and strategic approaches that will optimize company objectives and goals
- Monitor all relevant media stories involving Overtime, its co-founders and other industry news
- Lead response on any crisis communications
- Demonstrate good judgment in escalating problems and assessing communication risk
- Travel and facilitate events across Overtime’s IP
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Meaningful years of progressive experience in communications, public relations, marketing, business, journalism or related field
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, taking a concept and building from it
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills; ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely
- A passion for storytelling across traditional and emerging formats
- Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills; views problems as opportunities
- Demonstrated desire for continuous learning
- Ability to travel as needed
Overtime expects the base salary for this position to be $170-190K USD annually, based on the experience of the successful hire. Additionally, Overtime offers benefits such as medical, dental, vision; as well as paid time off and stock options in the company.
