Overtime is seeking a forward-thinking, agile, dynamic team player to take on the role of Associate Legal Counsel. The ideal candidate has a background in corporate and commercial law, with 3+ years of total experience gained at a law firm and/or professional sports league, team, or media company. Prior in-house experience is preferred. The ideal skill set would include experience in media-related transactional matters, including production, licensing, and branded content. A sports transactional background is a plus but is not required.

This position will report to the Senior Legal Counsel based in New York and will provide support to the legal team by assisting with drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of contracts to help deliver value across the organization. This role is “hands-on” and involves a broad and diverse set of in-house corporate and commercial transactional responsibilities, so an ability to learn and adapt quickly while maintaining a high level of attention to detail is a must.

What you'll do
The candidate will assist the Legal Team with the following:
  • Preparing, negotiating, and reviewing agreements, including service and vendor agreements, filming and production agreements, content licensing arrangements, consulting agreements, and NDAs, among other commercial contracts
  • Research related to intellectual property, data privacy, and compliance matters, among others
  • Facilitating the long-term business strategy for the company
  • Providing legal guidance and practical advice across the organization in the evaluation and prevention of company exposure
  • Other general in-house legal work and special projects on an as-needed basis

Who you are
  • 3+ years of relevant legal experience, including at least 1-2 years of relevant in-house experience at a media or entertainment company
  • You have experience with contract review and transactional work
  • An ideal candidate will have exposure to other areas of law, such as intellectual property, data privacy, and media-related transactional work (contract negotiation with venues, advertisers, talent, licensees, etc.)
  • You are a collegial, team oriented and driven self-starter with superior intellectual, analytical, and prioritization abilities who is able to function in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment while remaining highly organized, maintaining strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • You have sound judgment; you know how to resolve complicated matters while maintaining integrity and confidentiality
  • You have a strong ability to turn legalese into language that everyone understands and believes in
  • You have top-notch communication and collaboration skills, holding yourself and others accountable with kindness and humility
  • Ability to work effectively, collaborate cross-functionally, think practically, and be solution-oriented
  • You have a J.D. and bar admission (and in good standing) in New York 
  • You have authorization to work in the United States

Overtime expects the salary range for this role to be between 115-125k annually. Overtime also offers benefits and equity in the company.
