SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Buyer/Planner will purchase and manage inventory of all necessary components required for the presented category. This role will constantly monitor and manage lead times, consumption, and desired inventory levels to ensure customer demand is satisfied. The Buyer Planner will work closely with suppliers to ensure deliveries are timely and any and all variables are visible with resolution/recovery plans in place. The Buyer/Planner will report directly to the Senior Buyer/Planner for the assigned vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned)
- Responsible for the purchase of all necessary components related to a defined category.
- Creates material replenishment master data that support customer demand as well as supplier lead times.
- Reviews daily schedules for necessary demand and possible schedule changes.
- Identifies and resolves bottlenecks with suppliers that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Prepares reports and maintains related purchasing data.
- Communicates purchase order status to multiple departments as required.
- Assure orders delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, payment and freight terms.
- Monitor rejects and quality holds to support the Quality Department to resolve issues and obtain corrective actions.
- Maintains timely control of orders, changes, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate record retention.
- Purchases items in the most cost-effective manner.
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items, and obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
- Review requisitions for goods and services and assist with solicitation of bid proposals as required from time to time.
- Communicate rolling 12 month demand to assigned vendors ensuring that future demand is met.
QUALIFICATIONS

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Materials Management, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Purchasing.
- Experience in a closed-loop MRP environment.
- Experience using SAP preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel and Outlook.
- Clear understanding of production flow principles and processes.
- Knowledgeable of legal terminology within the procurement and materials management areas helpful.
