The Charlotte Independence is looking for Event Marketing & Promotions Interns for the 2018 season. This is a part-time position that will require flexible hours including nights and weekends. The internship is unpaid but students are encouraged to seek college credit wherever possible. Interns will assist the marketing and community relations departments with special event planning and execution, community outreach, fan development, grassroots initiatives, in-game promotions and group experiences. Event Marketing & Promotions Interns will play a large role in building awareness and excitement for the organization at all of its events and player appearances. A successful applicant will demonstrate strong organizational skills and along with creativity, initiative, resourcefulness and an ability to collaborate with fellow team members to achieve departmental goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with planning, promotion and execution of special events and community appearances
  • Serve as a brand ambassador at team and community events by interacting with current and potential fans to communicate general team information
  • Generate new leads and cultivate data at various events as assigned
  • Distribute marketing materials and promotional items at various events as assigned
  • Operate and maintain promotional equipment including (but not limited to) tents, tables, inflatables and nets
  • Assist with fulfillment of group experiences, birthday parties and other promotional ticket packages 
  • Execute in-game promotions as needed
  • Generate new ideas to improve brand awareness
  • Research community events and tournaments that could increase brand awareness 
  • Assist with gameday setup and teardown efforts
  • Additional administrative tasks as assigned
  • Interns over the age of 21 can have an opportunity to promote and take place in our Bus N' Brew program
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Housing in Charlotte or the surrounding area and have adequate transportation to events and games
  • Available to work from March-November (specific time frame is negotiable) 
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Must be self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude and strong desire to learn
  • Capacity to think creatively and contribute new ideas
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and perform some manual labor
  • Knowledge of soccer preferred but not required
