ABOUT THE CLUB 

Minnesota Aurora FC is a community-owned women’s soccer team based in the Twin Cities with over 5,000 community owners across all 50 states and 19 countries. The club plays in the pre-professional USL W League, starring and featuring the best amateur and aspiring professional players from Minnesota and across the globe. The club is operated by a women-led front office and coaching staff.

As the Director / VP of Marketing, you will be responsible for all external communications and messaging for the team. Marketing plays a key role in supporting ticket sales, sponsorships, and merchandise. You will drive campaigns across all owned and paid media channels, and design experiential activations to cultivate a loyal fan base, attract a new generation of fans, and accelerate revenue growth. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of executing data-driven marketing strategies and delivering growth in consumer-facing environments. This individual will strike a balance between strategic thinking and hands-on execution, possessing a deep understanding of sports or live entertainment. As a small organization, every member of our team must be able to both drive strategy and directly execute the resulting plans. The ideal candidate will be flexible, creative, and resourceful.

This is a full-time, year-round role. The office is located in Eagan, MN, and training and home games are at TCO Stadium. Minnesota Aurora operates in a seasonal, hybrid fashion. In-season (March - August), staff are expected to work from the office five days a week, and attend all home games. Out of season (September - February) we have a hybrid model, where staff work in person 3-days per week (Tuesday-Thursday).  

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute an integrated annual marketing strategy and brand narrative in collaboration with the Chief of Staff, aligning campaigns with organizational goals and key initiatives.
  • Provide strategic leadership and hands-on oversight of all marketing, communications, fan engagement, social media, and game presentation operations, ensuring alignment with Aurora’s mission and brand identity.
  • Lead and manage a multi-faceted team, including full-time staff, contractors, freelancers, and game day personnel, fostering a high-performance culture that delivers innovative and impactful work.
  • Direct the strategy and content approach for Aurora’s social media platforms, ensuring consistent voice, timely engagement, and brand-forward storytelling.
  • Conducting market research and leveraging demographic insights to inform strategy, segment audiences, and tailor marketing, communications, and fan engagement initiatives for maximum impact.
  • Oversee and optimize marketing and communications budgets, ensuring disciplined financial management while maximizing return on investment across campaigns and initiatives.
  • Serve as a primary liaison to internal and external stakeholders, including media, broadcast partners, and community organizations, representing Aurora with professionalism and impact.
  • Champion and enforce consistent application of the Minnesota Aurora brand across all platforms, touchpoints, and materials to strengthen recognition and loyalty.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members of the media, securing positive coverage and elevating Aurora’s presence in local and national conversations.
  • Act as the senior marketing and communications representative at all home games and key events, providing leadership, troubleshooting, and ensuring flawless execution.
  • Mentor, coach, and supervise staff to achieve professional growth and deliverables at the highest standard.
  • Partner cross-functionally with colleagues and departments to drive integrated campaigns, collaborative initiatives, and a unified organizational voice.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven track record of success in marketing, communications, journalism, sports management, or a related field, with progressive leadership experience.
  • Expertise in developing and executing social media strategies, with demonstrated success in driving engagement, brand growth, and community connection; ability to oversee and guide contractors and staff in day-to-day execution.
  • Strong command of digital tools, platforms, and analytics, with proficiency in applying design principles, brand standards, and emerging technologies to deliver impactful campaigns.
  • Exceptional ability to build authentic relationships and partnerships through trust, empathy, and effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including fans, media, and community partners.
  • Excellent organizational, management, and leadership skills, with experience supervising and developing full-time, part-time, freelance, and seasonal staff in a collaborative, high-performance environment.
  • Direct experience with paid media strategy and placement, including digital advertising and paid social campaigns, with an understanding of ROI and analytics-driven decision making.
  • Strong background in earned media strategy, including cultivating media relationships, generating coverage, and serving as a spokesperson or organizational representative.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets effectively, ensuring resources are allocated to maximize both impact and efficiency.
  • Commitment to upholding and advancing brand identity across all platforms, ensuring consistency of voice, values, and visual presentation.

COMPENSATION 

Final title and compensation will be determined based on qualifications of the selected applicant. Salary range is expected to be between $60,000-$85,000, depending on title and experience.
