Accounting and Finance: Controller/Director of Finance
Position Purpose
The Finance & Accounting Manager will be responsible for financial statements, accounting reconciliations, and league reporting, while ensuring reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
 
The right candidate will be ambitious, proactive, have direct experience with managing complex projects, and an excellent awareness of the impact proper financial reporting and analysis have on continued business success.  
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
 
·       Monthly financial statement preparation.
·       Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
·       Responsible for league financial reporting.
·       Maintain rolling forecast.
·       Identify and research budget variances.
·       Analyze financial status by collecting, monitoring, and studying data, while recommending actions.
·       Increase productivity by developing automated accounting applications and coordinating information requirements.
·       Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; and recommending actions.
·       Assist with year-end audit and tax schedules as needed for auditors.
·       Other duties/responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of professional work experience in Finance & Accounting required. 
  • CPA license a plus.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  
  • Advanced Excel skills required. 
  • Accurate work product with attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills. 
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize own work.  
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Discretion in handling confidential materials. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, league employees, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must.
  • Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if / when necessary.  
  • Must have U.S. work authorization.
