Job Overview
Rhode Island FC, a professional soccer club competing in the USL Championship, is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented college interns for the Fall 2025 season. This comprehensive internship program provides invaluable hands-on experience across various critical departments, including Ticketing Sales & Service, Communications, Community Relations, Partnership Marketing, Marketing, and the Executive Office. Interns will gain direct exposure to the diverse functions that drive a professional sports organization, contributing to both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
This position is for a seasonal internship, with a projected start date that can be flexible to align with academic calendars.
Educational Experience
• Must be currently enrolled as a junior, senior or graduate student in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program and eligible to receive college credit.
*This internship is for college credit only and is limited to no more than 28 hours per week.*
Qualifications
• Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace is required.
• A passion for sports, marketing, fan engagement, community involvement, and the business of live entertainment is preferred.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
• Familiarity with digital media management tools, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, LinkedIn, SponsorUnited, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, game days, and events as needed is required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Interns will contribute to various departments, gaining a holistic understanding of professional sports operations. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Ticketing Sales & Service:
• Assisting with outreach to prospective and existing customers via phone, email, and in person interactions.
• Supporting ticket and group sales efforts, including lead generation, data input, order processing, and event planning/execution.
• Providing excellent customer service to ticket holders and assisting with inquiries.
• Helping with ticket fulfillment, distribution, and box office operations on game days.
• Supporting fan experience efforts and conducting post-match surveys.
Communications:
• Maintaining accurate statistics and historical records for the club.
• Monitoring, collecting, and archiving media clips featuring Rhode Island FC.
• Assisting in managing gameday credentials and supporting press box operations.
• Identifying compelling storylines and assisting with content creation (e.g., feature writing).
• Supporting press conference recording and transcription.
• Assisting with media outreach and identifying new media contacts.
Community Relations:
• Researching USL Club and regional sports teams' community outreach strategies.
• Managing Kids Club initiatives, including database management, communication, and event support.
• Assisting with the Student Rush Program, including recruiting and ticket fulfillment.
• Actively participating as a member of the Community Crew at games and events, including Fan Fest setup and staffing.
• Managing the community email inbox and mascot request forms.
Partnership Marketing:
• Capturing proof of performance photos for partner activations.
• Assisting with various partner activations and Fan Fest activities.
• Conducting research for new partnership opportunities and supporting current partner management.
• Assisting in the creation of marketing materials for partner recaps, renewals, and proposals.
• Tracking ROI for partnerships and assisting with planning and execution of partner events.
Marketing:
• Assisting in coordinating marketing initiatives, tracking deadlines, and ensuring seamless execution.
• Working with designers and vendors for digital and print asset production.
• Overseeing the organization and distribution of marketing materials.
• Assisting in planning and executing game-day marketing activations and fan engagement activities.
• Supporting data collection and analysis for marketing campaigns.
• Assisting with paid media campaigns, community relations alignment, and event planning.
• Writing and editing promotional materials, email campaigns, and social media posts.
• Assisting with influencer marketing including prospecting, outreach, coordination, and attribution.
Executive Office:
• Interfacing all departments on a project-by-project basis to support executive initiatives.
• Assisting in preparing presentations, reports, and other materials for the Club President and senior leadership.
• Coordinating meetings and appointments, including calendar management and logistical planning.
• Conducting research on industry trends, competitor activity, and business opportunities.
• Supporting the planning and execution of special events, meetings, and community outreach programs.
• Providing administrative support, including managing calls, emails, and correspondence.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stretch for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours on event days).
• Comfortable working in moderate to loud environments.
• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs. for Ticketing, up to 25 lbs. for Communications, Community Relations, Marketing, and 15 lbs. for Executive).
