SVP of Revenue and Operations (SVPRO) oversees the club’s day-to-day operations and drives the organization’s strategic objectives. Reporting to the Club President, the SVPRO provides leadership, guidance, and operational expertise to ensure the club operates efficiently and effectively across all functional areas, including ticketing, marketing, finance, and stadium operations.

This position requires strong business acumen, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the sports industry. As a key leader in the USL ecosystem, the SVPRO will be the primary driver of commercial success and match-day fan experience, working closely with community stakeholders, corporate partners, and department heads. The SVPRO is responsible for developing and implementing club policies, managing budgets, and coordinating activities like merchandise sales and community engagement, ensuring Aequus Sports thrives both as a business enterprise and as a pillar of the Spokane community.

Key or Essential Functions
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the duties listed below.  The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operational Leadership: 
  • Manage the day-to-day business operations of Aequus Sports, including finance, human resources, marketing, and ticket sales.
  • Manages business operations and works closely with the Sporting Director to ensure the business side supports the competitive side (e.g., travel budgets, etc.).
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage department heads, fostering a “club-first” culture that aligns the business side with the technical side.
Financial Management:
  • Oversee the Club’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Partner and Director of Finance to ensure sound financial management practices and accountability.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.
  • Create and manage the annual operating budget, track P&L statements, and report financial performance to the Owner/President.
Drive Revenue & Partnerships: 
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams to drive the Club’s growth and expansion.
  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including team owners, sponsors, media partners, and government entities.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts, licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships.
  •  Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to maximize revenue and minimize expenses.
  • Oversee team store strategy, including online sales, stadium kiosks, and pop-up retail events.
Strategic Planning:
  • Collaborate with Owners and other executives to develop and execute the Club’s strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Conduct market research, monitor industry trends, and analyze competitive landscape to inform decision-making and strategic direction.
  • Monitor the implementation of strategic initiatives and assess their impact on the Club’s performance.
Operations & Logistics: 
  • Oversee game-day operations, ensuring a smooth and seamless experience for fans, players, and staff.
  • Collaborate with the stadium to coordinate logistics, security, ticketing, and fan engagement activities.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the point person for emergency situations during matches or events, coordinating with local law enforcement and medical personnel.
League Governance and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with league rules, regulations, and policies across all functional areas.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel and other stakeholders to address legal and regulatory matters.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of league governance and act as a liaison between the League and team owners.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field is required. An MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in sports management, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role (Director level or above). Experience in the USL, MLS, MiLB, or ECHL is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Spokane/Inland Northwest market is a major plus.
Key Skills:
  • Sales DNA: Proven track record in ticket sales and corporate partnership activation. 
  • Financial Acumen: Strong ability to read financial statements, build budgets, and control costs. 
  • Communication: Exceptional public speaking and media relations skills. 
  • Leadership: Ability to lead a diverse team (full-time, part-time, and gameday staff).

  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including a motor vehicle report.  
  • Have a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain required insurance.
  • Ability to pass SafeSport training.

  • Communication Skills: Drafts clear written communications (emails, strategic plans, manuals); adjusts style to audience; actively listens; presents information effectively. 
  • Dependability: Organizes work to meet deadlines; follows instructions; arrives on time as scheduled. 
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
  • Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to create and deliver polished sales presentations and proposals.
  • Experience with ticketing platforms (e.g., SeatGeek, Ticketmaster, etc.) preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work is performed primarily in an office setting.
  • Ability to work with moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and / or loud noise while performing work in the field and at the stadium. 
  • Essential position functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to: 
o   Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
o   Regularly talk and hear
o   Occasionally walk; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
o   Lift, carry, push, and /or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 15 pounds
o   Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine SVPROrdination including use of a computer keyboard with ability to grasp and reach
o   And utilize verbal and written communication to exchange information
 
Working Conditions
While performing the essential job functions, the employee may experience the following conditions:
  • Position may require flexible hours which may include extended days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Deadlines and sales goals may generate stress.
  • Noise Conditions: exposed to nose consistent with a standard office environment on a regular basis; exposed to loud noise occasionally.
  • Heat / Cold: May be subject to heat, cold, wet and / or humid weather conditions, and occasionally extreme heat and /or cold.
  • Atmospheric Exposure: Typical office environment conditions.
  • Injury Exposure: May be exposed to mechanical equipment used to support players in their training.
  • The club may accommodate some work from home and remote work based upon the needs of the club and suitability for the position.
