This is your opportunity to be part of the United Soccer League (USL) Spokane professional soccer team as the Head of Merchandise. This position is responsible for running the merchandise operations of USL Spokane and specifically for Spokane Zephyr FC and Spokane Velocity FC.  This position has overall responsibility for the team store, stadium store, and online store.  Spokane WA is a community consistently listed as one of the best cities to live in America and is passionate about local and national sports.  The Head of Merchandise will be an integral part of management of the full merchandise cycle including product design, retail operations, merchandising, budget, and asset management.  USL Spokane fosters a culture of creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to staff and community engagement and we are looking for someone to help drive forward our mission:

A successful candidate has prior experience with Shopify and a minimum of three years retail management and operations.  This role requires positive and effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to be detail-oriented and manage multiple priorities at once.  
 
General job duties include, but are not limited to:
·       Oversee the design, sourcing, and sales of all club merchandise at the team store, stadium store, and online. 
·       Manage the creative process for merchandise design using various data points including past sales metrics, customer feedback, and industry and community trends.
·       Appropriately forecast product demands and purchase accordingly.  This may include assessing seasonal based products. 
·       Manage the online sales platform and proactively strategize improvements to user experience and troubleshoot problem areas.  
·       Manage the retail P.O.S system and proactively strategize improvements and troubleshoot problem areas. 
·       Responsible for receiving, tracking, distributing, and accounting for all inventory (including physical count) in all retail outlets using the P.O.S. system. 
·       Prepare and present a budget, income statements, balance sheets, and capital expenditure requests. 
·       Manage all aspects of game day retail operations including staffing and inventory management. 
·       Hire, train, and manage hourly Team Store Associate staff.
·       Provide direct customer service by working shifts in both team store and stadium store selling and promoting merchandise.  
·       Work collaboratively with the marketing department to grow customer base, promote product and sales, and drive customers to all three retail outlets.  
·       Collaborate with Club President to ensure clear expectations on level of autonomy and reporting or approval procedures.  
·       This position must be able to work flexible hours which may include extended days, nights, weekends, and holidays.  Some out of town travel may be required.   
 
Minimum Qualifications Include: 
·       Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, retail management, or related field preferred.
·       Minimum of 3 years retail management and operations experience required.
·       Ability to pass SafeSport training.  
·       Possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license and maintain legally required insurance. 
·       Previous experience should include:  
o   Shopify experience 
o   Personnel management 
o   Strong background in product design and management 
o   Retail operations 
·       Proven ability to build respectful working relationships and effectively communicate with employees, management, vendors, contractors, and community partners.  Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional team.  
·       High degree of personal initiative.
·       Proven track record of personal and team achievements.
·       Creative thinker with experience generating creative solutions.
·       Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.  
·       Demonstrates superior customer service skills by ensuring each interaction leaves the individual feeling heard, appreciated, understood, and valued.

Compensation and Benefits: 
·       Exempt position with a range of $68,000 - $72,000
·       Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
·       Paid unlimited vacation policy 
·       10 days of sick leave per calendar year (prorated first year of employment) 
·       Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided with a 75% employer contribution for employee premiums
·       50% employer contribution for dependent/spouse medical, dental, and vision
·       Employer paid employee life insurance and AD&D
