Position Summary
The Director of Sporting & Community Engagement is a key driver of USL Spokane’s community impact strategy for both Spokane Zephyr FC and Spokane Velocity FC. This role builds authentic relationships with youth, families, and the broader soccer and business community—creating experiences that educate, empower, and inspire.

Working closely with the VP of Soccer Operations, this leader designs and delivers programs that strengthen our connection to the community, elevate the club’s profile, and support both on- and off-field success.

Key Responsibilities
Fan & Community Engagement
  • Partner with the executive leadership to execute impactful community programs that enhance the image of our teams, players, and coaches.
  • Design creative initiatives that address local needs and leverage the assets of USL Spokane and the Aequus Collective.
  • Serve as primary liaison between USL Spokane and area youth soccer clubs, K–12 schools, and community organizations.
  • Work alongside the Partnerships team to fulfill sponsor-driven community engagement activations.
  • Coordinate player appearances, community service events, and speaking engagements.
  • Track participation, collect feedback, and deliver semi-annual reports highlighting impact.
  • Conduct community surveys to inform program adjustments.
  • Support the Aequus Foundation’s programmatic and fundraising initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, nonprofits, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent USL Spokane at corporate, civic, and community events, and serve on select boards.

Leadership & Administration
  • Provide constructive feedback and professional development support to direct reports.
  • Manage assigned budgets and expenses.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant programs from other organizations to ensure innovation and relevance.
  • Act as a spokesperson for USL Spokane when designated by club leadership.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, public relations, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in communications, project management, community relations, media relations, or similar roles.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and ability to pass a background and MVR check.
  • Proven track record in building relationships, managing projects, and achieving results.
  • Strong creative thinking, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and across all organizational levels.

Physical & Working Conditions
  • 50-50 office-based with occasional exposure to outdoor stadium environments.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods, lift 15–25 lbs (occasionally up to 50 lbs), and operate standard office equipment.
  • Regular exposure to noise typical of office and stadium environments; occasional work in extreme weather.
  • Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, holidays, and travel.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Exempt position with salary range of $79,000 - $89,000
  • Unlimited vacation and paid sick leave (prorated sick leave the first year of employment) 
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided with a 75% employer contribution for employee premiums
  • 50% employer contribution for dependent/spouse medical, dental, and vision
  • Employer paid employee life insurance and AD&D
