The Assistant Coach for Spokane Zephyr FC has responsibility for assisting the Head Coach in training, team management, and development of players.  The position is responsible for the ongoing assessment of soccer industry and trends and competition analysis.  The Assistant Coach serves plans and executes training sessions with coaching staff.    
 
A successful candidate has a proven ability to build respectful working relationships and effectively communicates with players and other staff.  This role requires a high degree of personal initiative and strong organizational and time-management skills.   This position must be able to solve problems creatively in real time and adapt quickly.  Must have a passion for working in a high performing team environment.  
 
General job duties include, but are not limited to:
·      Serves as an Assistant Coach to Spokane Zephyr FC and performs assistant coach duties under the direction of the Head Coach and Sporting Director.  
·      Plans and executes training sessions with coaching staff. 
·      Assists in the daily set up and clean up for each training session as well as set up and clean up for game days as needed. 
·      Reviews, edits, and manages all video analysis software and delivers clips to players and other pertinent parties.  Trains others on analysis software as needed and proactively troubleshoots any software issues and identifies opportunities for increasing video analysis efficiency and effectiveness.  
·      Maintains expert level and up-to-date knowledge on the national and international soccer industry and trends and conducts ongoing opposition analysis.  
·      Creates Individual Development Plans (IDP) for playing staff and continually monitors effectiveness and adjusts as needed.  
·      Assists the Head Coach and Sporting Director with player recruitment and scouting.  
·      Participates in and leads regular team meetings.  Generates team meeting agenda and collaborates with other coaching staff on meeting content and direction.   
·      Builds and fosters positive and professional working relationships with other members of staff including performance, medical, equipment, operations, and administration.  
·      Meets with and collaborates with staff on a regular basis and openly accepts feedback and guidance while providing expertise and advocating for player welfare and strategies for top level performance.  
·      Creates drill library and session logs.  
·      Coordinates and communicates all away training with administrative staff.  
·      Maintains a clear understanding of USL sporting culture and can foster this culture amongst staff, coaches, and players.  Fosters a positive team environment aligned with USL Spokane culture and mission.  
·      Takes responsibility for communicating feedback clearly to the team and makes decisions that serve the business objectives of USL Spokane.  
·      Regularly assists the Head Coach and Sporting Director with other duties to support the success of the club; the health, safety, and success of the players; and the overall business objectives of USL Spokane. 
 
This position must be able to work flexible hours which will include extended days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights due to travel. 
 
Minimum Qualifications Include: 
·      Minimum of a USSF National B license required.  
·      Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business administration, or related field preferred.
·      Minimum of 3 years direct experience coaching at any level required, professional level coaching experience preferred.
·      A combination or accumulation of applicable work-related experience and/or education may be recognized as sufficiently meeting the requirements based upon educational programs and specific experience. 
·      Possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license and maintain legally required insurance. 
·      Ability to pass SafeSport training.

Compensation and Benefits: 
·       Exempt position with a range of $70,000 - $78,000.
·       Eligible for annual discretionary bonus.  
·       Paid unlimited vacation policy and 10 days of sick leave per calendar year.
·       Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided with a 75% employer contribution for employee premiums. 
·       50% employer contribution for dependent/spouse medical, dental, and vision.  
·       Employer paid employee life insurance and AD&D.
