Lexington Sporting Club is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Communications Intern to support the club’s written content, media relations, and digital communications efforts. This role offers hands-on experience in professional sports communications, including website content, matchday media support, and real-time storytelling across club platforms.

Working closely with the Director of Communications, the intern will assist with written content production, media materials, web updates, and post-match communications that help tell the story of the club throughout the season.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with writing articles for lexsporting.com, including club stories, match previews, and match recaps
  • Support updates to weekly match notes and other materials distributed to media
  • Assist with updating web pages across lexsporting.com
  • Attend select media obligations and player appearances around Lexington, as scheduling allows
  • Help collect and transcribe player and coach quotes following home matches
  • Assist with clipping broadcast highlights for real-time social media use, including goals, key saves, and other major moments
  • Track and record media mentions from local television, radio, and other media outlets
  • Assist with creating digital content for social media as needed
  • Support other communications and public relations tasks as assigned
 
What We’re Looking For
  • Current college student pursuing Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Sports Management, English, or related field
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write clearly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with deadlines
  • Interest in sports communications, media relations, and digital storytelling
  • Comfortable working evenings and weekends during match season
  • Reliable, organized, and able to represent the club professionally in media and public settings

  • Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities around matches, media deadlines, and club announcements
  • Frequent work in outdoor settings and at off-site events, including training sessions, the stadium, and other assigned club events
  • Event-based scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the season
