Overview of the United Soccer League (USL)
The United Soccer League (USL) is the heartbeat of American soccer. Impacting more than 200 communities across the United States, the USL is the first and only soccer organization in the United States to build a youth-to-professional pathway for both men and women within one ecosystem. That structure includes three professional leagues: Gainbridge Super League (women), USL Championship (men), and USL League One (men); two pre-professional leagues: USL League Two (men) and the USL W League (women); and two youth platforms: USL Academy and USL Youth.

Position Purpose
The Digital Content Coordinator – Women’s Pathway creates content for the league’s digital and social platforms, highlighting human interest stories, on-field storylines, and key narratives across the USL Gainbridge Super League (professional) and USL W League (pre-professional). This role ideates, drafts, edits, and publishes web articles while serving as the primary point of contact for W League clubs. The position works closely with multiple departments across the USL organization, providing hands-on experience in storytelling, digital content creation, and professional sports communications.

Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Create, edit, and publish digital content across league platforms, including websites and newsletters.
  • Draft engaging narratives and human interest stories throughout the season.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for USL W League clubs and support communication with Gainbridge Super League clubs.
  • Maintain the women’s pathway content calendar in collaboration with Communications, Partnerships, Social, and Digital Services teams.
  • Produce multimedia content, including TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other digital video assets.
  • Create and distribute internal communications to clubs to ensure consistent messaging and prepare clubs for league announcements.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of fan-facing newsletters and match notes.
  • Develop a growing knowledge of Gainbridge Super League and W League players, teams, and the broader soccer landscape.
  • Support other communications and marketing initiatives as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred and/or equivalent professional work experience.
  • 1-2 year(s) of relevant work experience or internships in digital content, social media, or communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; previous editorial experience preferred.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and a collaborative, team-first approach.
  • Comfortable working with CMS platforms, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Passion for working in professional sports; Functional knowledge of soccer preferred.
  • Knowledge of Tik Tok, WordPress, WSC and OPTA a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and media members.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must have U.S. work authorization.

Work Environment
Based in Tampa, FL, USL Headquarters provides a vibrant and open working environment designed to promote collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and knowledge sharing. We believe in fostering a culture that encourages creativity, communication, and teamwork. 

Currently, USL HQ operates on a hybrid work model. From Monday to Thursday, team members gather in person to harness the power of face-to-face collaboration. This not only strengthens the bonds within the team but also enhances communication and innovation. On Fridays, we transition to a remote work setup, providing our team with the flexibility to manage their tasks in an environment of their choosing.

Typical USL HQ hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm ET. Evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel may be necessary based on business demands.
