Job Title: Matchday Competition Assistant (Part Time, Matchday Role)

Reports To: Coordinator, Events & Matchday Operations
Matchday Competition Assistant’s role will assist with the flow and execution of all Tampa Bay Sun FC home games. This individual will be responsible for managing official game timing, communicating key match information and serving as the official “Red Hat” liaison between on-field officials and the broadcast team. The ideal candidate thrives under high pressure situations, can multitask effectively and has a strong understanding of the rhythm and requirements of a professional soccer match.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay up to date on all league competition protocols and ensure all competition elements required by the USL Super League are fulfilled. This includes confirming locker rooms and the pitch meet league standards prior to kickoff.
- Execute the competition timeline promptly and efficiently.
- Participate in the on-field inspection with match officials prior to kickoff.
- Serve as the primary operations lead pre-match, in game and post game throughout the duration of the competition.
- Act as the lead for part-time match operations team; keeping all staff on-task, assisting and confirming locker rooms, competition areas are set up, and other duties as assigned.
- Track and radio all key matchday timing to all relevant stakeholders, communicating all in-game elements such as substitutions, goals, yellow/red cards, and other relevant moments.
- Serve as the on-field broadcast liaison (“Red Hat”) during the match.
- Execute other duties as assigned by the operations staff or management team.
- Must be available for all home matchdays.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of soccer rules, timing structure, and in-game operations.
- Ability to multitask and stay composed during live match environments.
- Must have strong radio communication skills to ensure timing is clear, accurate and consistent.
- Comfortable using radios and headsets for in-game communications.
- Prior experience working in sports or live event production is a plus.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including eventings, weekends, and holidays.
