Tampa Bay Sun FC is seeking passionate and motivated individuals to join our Marketing, Social Media, and Communications Internship program for the 2025/2026 season through the end of playoffs. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students eager to kickstart their careers in the sports industry while gaining hands-on experience in grassroots marketing, social media, communications, and community engagement.
This position serves as a community ambassador for the club on matchdays and at community events, helping to build meaningful and lasting relationships with fans, organizations, and key stakeholders.
This internship is eligible for college credit. A stipend will be provided for hours worked beyond required academic credit hours.
Key Responsibilities
Grassroots & Event Marketing
- Execute promotional activities across the Greater Tampa Bay region, including youth soccer tournaments, community events, festivals, parades, watch parties, and more.
- Perform operational tasks at events, such as event setup/breakdown, gameday logistics, and fan zone activations.
- Ensure safe and professional setup of all club marketing assets: tents, inflatables, branded vehicles, games, and signage.
- Actively engage with fans, guests, and community members while promoting the Tampa Bay Sun brand with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Collect and report lead generation data to support future marketing and ticket sales initiatives.
Gameday & Fan Engagement
- Serve as part of the Sun Squad hype team during matches, running flags after goals, tossing t-shirts, and using props to energize the crowd.
- Create a fun and inclusive atmosphere by encouraging crowd participation and supporting other matchday entertainment elements.
Social Media & Content Creation
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop creative content for Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube, including brainstorming, writing, and editing.
- Capture high-quality photos and video during events to use across social media and digital platforms.
- Assist in creating player and staff bios, crafting email newsletters, and other digital marketing efforts.
Communications
- Support internal and external communications, including writing press releases, blog posts, event recaps, and community outreach materials.
- Help promote and support the Tampa Bay Sun Foundation, including storytelling around foundation events, assisting in social campaigns, and capturing impact-focused content.
- Assist with media relations and press coordination at select events and matches.
Team Collaboration
- Participate in weekly team meetings to brainstorm ideas, align on strategy, and report on tasks.
- Work cross-functionally with departments to help execute marketing and community initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills and a self-starter with a creative mind.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Displays knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube, etc.).
- Excellent customer service skills that showcase a positive and enthusiastic approach to customers so as to convey a positive image and respond to clients in a timely manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Night and weekend work required, including working special events.

You'll help build amazing events for our community. You'll make great connections and learn a lot about the sports business.
Let's talk about the time commitment. Depending on the role, it may require more than eight hours of work in a given day, particularly event days. All interns work every home game. Depending on the role, you may have some non-game day hours (some remote), and you may cover training sessions (as needed).
These internships are best suited for students who can get college credit and/or who are looking to get their foot in the door in the extremely competitive sports industry.
