The Tampa Bay Rowdies are seeking energetic, patient, and enthusiastic coaches to join our Youth Development team. Coaches will work with children ages 2–4 in our Little Rowdies program, creating a fun, safe, and engaging introduction to the game of soccer. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with young children, have a passion for coaching, and want to make a positive impact while representing one of the premier professional soccer organizations in the Tampa Bay area.
About the Little Rowdies Program (Ages 2–4)
The Little Rowdies program is designed to introduce children ages 2–4 to the game of soccer in a fun, supportive, and age-appropriate environment. Open to players of all skill levels, the program focuses on developing motor skills, coordination, confidence, and social interaction through engaging games and soccer-based activities. Our experienced coaching staff creates a positive first soccer experience while teaching the basic fundamentals of the game and encouraging a lifelong love of being active.
Position Details
- Part-time position (approximately 3–10 hours per week, based on availability)
- Programs are held:
- Wednesday mornings and afternoons
- Saturday mornings
- Opportunities to work Tampa Bay Rowdies youth camps (up to 35 hours per week during camp sessions)
- Complimentary tickets to select Tampa Bay Rowdies home matches on days worked
Essential Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coach an assigned group of children ages 2–4.
- Lead engaging, age-appropriate training sessions and activities.
- Foster a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Introduce players to basic soccer skills through fun, interactive games.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of fields, equipment, and training activities.
- Follow all Tampa Bay Rowdies coaching curriculum, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate professionally with parents, fellow coaches, and staff.
- Represent the Tampa Bay Rowdies with professionalism both on and off the field.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Knowledge and understanding of the game of soccer.
- Previous experience working with toddlers or young children is preferred.
- Previous coaching or teaching experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, energetic, and passionate about working with young children.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Flexible schedule with availability on Wednesday mornings/afternoons and Saturday mornings.
- Available for at least 6 of the 8 Little Rowdies sessions each season.
- Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods while coaching outdoors.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must reside in the Greater Tampa Bay Area.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check and SafeSport training prior to employment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, run, and actively participate in coaching activities for extended periods.
- Ability to demonstrate basic soccer movements and activities.
- Ability to lift and carry training equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain.
