Position Description
As communications manager, you will serve as Sporting Cascades FC’s primary point of contact for the USL as well as local and national media. The ideal candidate is a natural storyteller, strong writer, and proactive media liaison with excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. You will be primarily responsible for leading SCFC’s earned media efforts to further enhance the reputation of the club and its key stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities 
  • Serve as SCFC’s primary media relations point of contact.
  • Generate a consistent cadence of earned media coverage across traditional and non-traditional outlets.
  • Write and edit communications materials including, but not limited to, press releases, match recaps, press pitches, talking points, speeches, and presentation decks.
  • Prepare club spokespersons for interviews and public-facing opportunities.
  • Respond to media inquiries in a timely manner, providing background information and facilitating interviews as necessary.
  • Facilitate and manage internal and league requests for TV broadcast content.
  • Manage in-person and virtual team media appearances, scheduling players and coaches and preparing talking points for anticipated topics.
  • Manage the SCFC website.

Qualifications 
  • 2+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or related field. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills for different formats including press releases, web copy, social media, and pitches.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with website maintenance and best practices, particularly with Wordpress sites. 
  • Strong work ethic with a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work home matchdays (18-20 days per year, often nights and weekends).
