Sioux Falls City FC

Goalkeeper Coach

Sioux Falls City FC - Part Time
Sioux Falls · SD
Soccer - Coach
Role Overview
Sioux Falls City FC is seeking a Goalkeeper Coach to lead the development, integration, and performance of our goalkeepers within the SFCFC game framework. A USL W league team, we take pride in setting the standard on the pitch, and in our community.

This role is not isolated to position-specific work. It requires someone who can connect goalkeeper behaviors to team identity, contribute to a high-performance environment, and collaborate within a unified staff.

We are looking for a coach who values detail, honesty, and growth—someone who can challenge players while building trust and clarity.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Integration
  • Plan and deliver position-specific goalkeeper training aligned with the SFCFC game framework
  • Integrate goalkeeper actions into team training (initiating and supporting play with the ball, defending space, transitions, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Technical Staff to ensure tactical and physical alignment
  • Maintain and manage goalkeeper equipment and training resources

Matchday Contribution
  • Lead goalkeeper warm-ups and match preparation
  • Contribute to goalkeeper-specific tactical planning for each opponent
  • Provide live, in-game goalkeeper analysis and adjustments
  • Support post-match review with objective feedback

Video Analysis & Scouting
  • Analyze SFCFC match film with a goalkeeper lens
  • Scout opponents to identify goalkeeper-relevant trends and threats
  • Assist in building clear, actionable scouting reports
  • Clip and present film to support learning and decision-making

Player Development
  • Develop goalkeepers technically, tactically, and mentally within a high-performance environment
  • Deliver honest, constructive feedback that drives improvement
  • Use video as a teaching tool to accelerate learning
  • Support players in building recruiting/professional highlight materials

Squad Evaluation & Selection
  • Assess goalkeeper performance in training and matches
  • Provide input on squad selection and matchday decisions
  • Track development trends and communicate clearly with Technical Staff
  • Identify strengths, risks, and areas for growth

Operational Support
  • Assist with logistics (travel, equipment, scheduling support)
  • Contribute to a professional organized daily environment
  • Support pre-season and in-season planning for goalkeeper workload

Off-Season & Planning
  • Participate in pre-season planning and video meetings
  • Contribute to goalkeeper periodization (technical, tactical, physical) aligned with the SFCFC game framework
  • Support off-season communication and development where applicable

Staff & Environment Expectations
  • Collaboration
  • Work as part of an integrated staff—not a siloed position coach
  • Communicate clearly, directly, and respectfully
  • Contribute to problem-solving and shared decision-making

Coaching Mindset
  • Demonstrate curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning
  • Be reflective and open to feedback
  • Adapt without losing clarity of purpose

Standards & Conduct
  • Model professionalism in all interactions (players, staff, officials, supporters)
  • Uphold SFCFC values: authenticity, integrity, and purpose
  • Help create an environment built on accountability, trust, and ambition

Required Credentials & Experience
  • SafeSport Certification + successful background check
  • Minimum 2 years coaching experience in a high-performance environment (college, pre-professional, professional, etc.)
  • Goalkeeper coaching license (USSF, USC, UEFA, or equivalent)

Key Competencies & Contributions
  • Ability to contribute to a healthy, demanding team culture
  • Strong communication and collaboration within a staff environment
  • Commitment to player development in a high-performance setting

Role Expectations & Availability
  • Full availability during the season (May–July), including:
    • All trainings, matches, and meetings
    • Travel and non-standard working hours

Preferred (Not Required)
  • 4+ years experience in high-performance environments
  • Advanced goalkeeper coaching licensure
  • Degree in coaching, sport science, or related field

What Matters at SFCFC
This role is about more than running goalkeeper sessions.

We value coaches who:
  • Teach decision-making, not just technique
  • Understand that goalkeepers are part of every phase of the game
  • Can connect individual development to team success
  • Are honest enough to challenge and humble enough to grow

If you’re looking for a role where you can impact players, shape identity, and be pushed as a coach, this is the environment.
