Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager – Talent & Onboarding will play a critical role in building and supporting a high-performing organization by leading the Club's talent acquisition, onboarding, employee development, and human resources operations. This individual will own the full recruitment lifecycle, ensuring the Club attracts, hires, and retains exceptional talent across all departments.
Beyond recruiting, the HR Manager will create an outstanding onboarding experience that equips new employees for success while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a strategic, people-focused HR professional with strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and employee relations. Previous experience in professional sports or soccer is preferred.
This position must ensure the Club remains compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws while meeting all Club and league standards and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition
- Lead the full-cycle recruitment process for all full-time, part-time, seasonal, and internship positions.
- Develop recruiting strategies to attract diverse and high-quality candidates.
- Source, screen, interview, and coordinate hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
- Manage candidate communications, employment offers, and hiring documentation.
- Build relationships with universities, professional organizations, and industry networks to develop future talent pipelines.
- Continuously improve recruiting processes and employer branding initiatives.
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Design and manage a comprehensive onboarding program that creates a positive first impression and prepares employees for long-term success.
- Coordinate new hire orientation, paperwork, benefits enrollment, technology setup, and department introductions.
- Partner with department leaders to ensure new employees receive role-specific training and resources.
- Evaluate and improve onboarding processes through employee feedback and performance metrics.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Serve as a trusted resource for managers and employees regarding HR policies and workplace concerns.
- Support employee engagement initiatives that strengthen organizational culture.
- Assist managers with performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and employee development plans.
- Help implement recognition and retention programs.
Human Resources Operations
- Maintain accurate personnel records and confidential employee files.
- Administer HRIS systems and employee documentation.
- Support payroll and benefits administration in coordination with Finance.
- Monitor HR metrics and prepare reports for leadership as needed.
- Maintain and update employee handbook, policies, and procedures.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain compliance with Club policies, league standards, and applicable governing body requirements.
- Assist with workplace investigations and employee relations matters.
- Support workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and required employment reporting.
- Ensure proper completion and retention of employment documentation, including I-9 verification and onboarding records.
Organizational Development
- Assist leadership with workforce planning and organizational growth.
- Identify training and professional development opportunities.
- Support succession planning and employee career development initiatives.
- Promote a culture built on accountability, professionalism, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification required.
- 4–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
- Experience managing full-cycle recruitment and onboarding.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.
Preferred
- Experience working in professional sports, collegiate athletics, or the soccer industry.
- Experience with payroll systems and benefits administration.
- Knowledge of visa processes and international employee onboarding.
- Experience supporting seasonal or event-based workforces.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an office environment with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by Club operations and matchday activities.
- Ability to travel occasionally for recruiting, meetings, and Club events.
