Position Overview 

Sarasota Paradise is seeking a qualified and motivated Athletic Trainer to support all aspects of player health, injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for our professional soccer team competing in USL League One. This position works under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer and team physicians and plays a key role in maintaining player availability and performance throughout the season. 

The Athletic Trainer will collaborate closely with coaching, performance, and medical staff to deliver high-quality sports medicine services in a professional soccer environment. 

This position can be an individual contractor for the right individual(s). 

Key Responsibilities:


Sports Medicine & Player Care 
  • Provide athletic training services for first team players, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. 
  • Administer therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation programs as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer and team physicians. 
  • Support return-to-play protocols and ongoing player monitoring. 
  • Provide on-field and clinical medical coverage for trainings, games, and club activities. 

Medical Operations & Compliance 
  • Lead in maintaining accurate, confidential medical records for all players. 
  • Support compliance with USL, U.S. Soccer, and league medical standards. 
  • Assist with pre-season physicals, medical screenings, and ongoing evaluations. 
  • Support concussion protocols and emergency action plans. 

Collaboration & Performance Support
 
  • Communicate player status, injury updates, and rehabilitation progress to the Head Coach and Team Physician. 
  • Work collaboratively with coaching and performance staff to support workload management and recovery strategies. 
  • Assist in integrating performance and sports science data into medical and rehabilitation processes. 

Administrative & Matchday Support
 
  • Assist with athletic training equipment setup, inventory, and maintenance. 
  • Support gameday medical operations, including coordination with visiting teams and officials as assigned. 
  • Assist with travel logistics related to medical care for away matches. 

Qualifications:
Required 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • Current BOC certification and state licensure (or eligibility) in Florida. 
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification. 
  • 1–3 years of experience in collegiate, professional, or elite athletic environments (soccer experience preferred). 
  • Strong understanding of soccer-related injuries and physical demands. 
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required. 

Preferred
 
  • Experience in professional or high-level soccer environments. 
  • Familiarity with USL or U.S. Soccer medical standards. 
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary performance team.
