Program Purpose
The Game Operations Internship is designed for students interested in sports operations, event management, and soccer administration. This hands-on role provides the opportunity to gain real-world experience working with competitive teams while supporting game day operations and fan engagement.
Interns work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure smooth, professional, and memorable experiences for players, fans, and partners at all Glens home matches. This role is ideal for candidates pursuing careers in sports management, event operations, or athletic administration.
Schedule Expectations
Candidates should be available to work in person a few days per week and must be available to attend the majority of home matches (approximately 12) to support game day operations. Some evening and weekend availability will be required during the season.
Home matches are played at San Francisco Glens Stadium, 620 Ave I, San Francisco, CA 94130.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Game Operations Intern will assist the Director of Operations with responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the planning and execution of game day operations, including run-of-show, vendor coordination, and in-game entertainment
- Assisting with ticketing operations, including setup, sales, and fan assistance at entry points
- Selling and managing merchandise and concessions while delivering excellent customer service
- Assisting with stadium and field setup, breakdown, and overall event logistics
- Managing equipment and supporting apparel distribution processes
- Providing on-site event support to help create a professional, welcoming, and seamless fan experience
- Assisting with sponsorship activations and promotional elements on matchdays
- Supporting front office administrative tasks and league protocol requirements
- Collaborating with internal departments to ensure full matchday readiness
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of youth sports and the U.S. soccer landscape preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Willingness to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
