Overview of the United Soccer League (USL)

The United Soccer League (USL) is the largest and fastest-growing professional soccer organization in North America, possessing more than a decade of experience in bringing the world’s game to communities across the United States and Canada. Overseeing the USL Championship (USSF Division II), USL League One (USSF Division III), and USL League Two (Pre-Professional), the organization is built on a proven and recognized model in international football and counts more than 125 clubs in its membership. Based in Tampa, Fla., the USL has grown during the past decade into a model organization with strong corporate partnerships and stable organizational leadership. It features a dedicated staff of more than 60 professionals across 15 departments ranging from operations, digital, communications and club services, each of which provides unparalleled support to member clubs and outside partners. Position Description

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for leading, developing and executing brand marketing strategies and activations. Specifically working with internal departments, external agencies and partners, spearheading all the advertising and promotional campaigns for the club

Reports to: President/GM of Club

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement strategic marketing plans to achieve annual sales goals
Manages game presentation and works closely with operations staff to ensure all consumer facing marketing and brand elements are presented appropriately
Leading, managing, and creating a plan for the entire marketing staff (Traditional Media, Social Media, PR)
Collaborate with the sales team to create campaigns focused on both growing the new Season Ticket Member base, retention, group, advance, theme, and walk up tickets
Plan and oversee advertising and promotional campaigns which include may include TV, radio, print, social and digital marketing in an effort to ultimately drive sales and increase brand affinity
Maintains consistent oversight and awareness of campaign results and proactively take corrective action, as needed, to optimize results
Evaluates market trends and adjust strategies to adapt to the changing market and competitive conditions
Be a liaison with Partnership Sales and Partnership Marketing to ensure the organization’s partners are supporting sales through internal and external partner distribution channels
Collaborates with senior management to ensure all creative assets properly reflect the brand and are consistent with marketing and sales objectives
Works with the all other departments to ensure cross-platform execution
Collaboratively support community initiatives
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the competitive landscape and the brand’s competing strengths, weaknesses and market position
Develops and motivate team members
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Experience & Knowledge

Ability to lead within a fast-paced environment and deliver amidst demanding timelines
Demonstrated ability to lead a team
Experience leading marketing and media agencies
Ability to organize and oversee multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Extensive understanding of creative production processes
Extensive experience developing digital and social creative solutions
Strong problem solving, decision making and analytical skills
Demonstrated understanding of how marketing, creative and media work seamlessly to help brands succeed
Exceptionally strong interpersonal and communication skills
Independent, self-motivated and creative
Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint )

Experience:

At least 4+ years of experience within the sports, entertainment, advertising agency or media industries
At least 4+ years of experience working with media agency to coordinate delivering creative assets in accordance with media plans
At least 2-4 years of direct supervisory experience

Educational Background Required

Bachelor's degree required - Advanced degree a plus
Sports and entertainment industry experience preferred
