The Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Pittsburgh Riveters SC represent the city of Pittsburgh with pride, passion, and community connection. As professional soccer clubs competing in the USL Championship and USL W League, visual storytelling plays a key role in how fans experience our teams, players, and matchday atmosphere.
Our photography team captures the moments that define our clubs — from game-winning goals to the energy of Highmark Stadium on matchday.
Position Overview
The Photography Intern will assist in capturing and organizing high-quality visual content throughout the season. This role provides hands-on experience covering professional sporting events, producing digital content, and building a sports photography portfolio.
The intern will work closely with the club’s marketing and communications teams to support content needs across digital, social media, and marketing platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture photography during Riverhounds and Riveters home matches, including live action, fan experience, stadium atmosphere, and behind-the-scenes moments
- Photograph training sessions, community events, and club activations as assigned
- Assist with photo selection, editing, and exporting images for social media, marketing, and website use
- Organize and archive photos within the club’s Dropbox file structure for internal use and future reference
- Maintain a consistent visual style that aligns with the club’s brand and storytelling goals
- Work closely with the marketing and communications staff to deliver content quickly and efficiently on game days
Requirements
- Current student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Photography, Media, Communications, or a related field
- Must have their own professional photography equipment (DSLR or mirrorless camera and appropriate lenses for sports photography)
- Strong understanding of photography fundamentals including composition, lighting, and timing
- Experience with Adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop preferred
- Availability throughout the summer and fall seasons
- Must be available to work the majority of Riverhounds and Riveters home games (limited exceptions may be permitted)
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and matchdays
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional demeanor when working around players, staff, and fans
