Position Overview
We are seeking a Community and PR Coordinator to cover two connected funtions: community engagement and public relations support. The coordinator is the club's presence at community events and the front line on media logistics. Strong fit for someone early in their sports business career who wants exposure to both fan-facing and press-facing sides of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement
- Plan and staff club appearances at youth soccer events, schools, nonprofits, and local community organizations
- Coordinate player and staff participation in community appearances and charitable initiatives
- Serve as a point of contact for community partners and grassroots soccer organizations in the market
- Track and report on community engagement metrics (events staffed, attendance, partner relationships)
Public Relations
- Draft and distribute press releases (signings, transfers, day-to-day club news)
- Maintain relationships with local media and soccer-specific press
- Coordinate media access on gamedays — credentialing, mixed zone logistics, post-match interview scheduling
- Maintain the club's media contact database and press kit materials
- Write match previews and post-match recaps for all matches
Required Qualifications
- 1–2 years experience; internships in sports, nonprofit community relations, or communications count
- Strong written communication — writing samples required (press release, match recap, or event recap)
- Comfortable working gameday hours, including nights/weekends
- Valid driver's license (frequent off-site community events)
Preferred Qualifications
- Spanish fluency
- Experience with a sports team, league, or youth sports organization
- Existing familiarity with the local soccer community
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for match days and events
- Occasional travel for away matches, league meetings, and industry conferences
- Standard office environment with regular stadium and event attendance
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods during events
