One Knoxville SC is a professional soccer club proudly rooted in Knoxville, TN, competing in USL League One. Our mission is to build a more dynamic, united, and prideful future for our City through soccer. The Club includes a men’s professional team, a women’s first team in the USL W League, a youth club serving 1,600 players, and adult recreational leagues engaging more than 2,000 participants.

The One Knox Youth Club is central to this mission — developing players, coaches, and a culture of excellence that embodies “The One Knox Way.” The Technical Director will lead the development of our youth soccer program, create a unified technical vision, and guide coaches and players toward long-term success.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION
The Technical Director is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for defining and executing the technical vision of One Knox Youth Club. This role oversees all aspects of player development, coaching education, curriculum implementation, and technical alignment across the club.

The Technical Director ensures a consistent playing philosophy from grassroots through elite levels, develops high-performing coaches, and creates an environment where players can reach their full potential while aligning with the Club’s mission and community values.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Technical Leadership & Player Development
  2. Design and implement a comprehensive player development model aligned with the club’s philosophy and long-term goals.
  3. Establish and enforce principles of play across all grassroots age groups and levels.
  4. Oversee player identification, recruitment, and scouting across all youth programs.
  5. Work with First Team to develop and maintain a clearly defined player pathway from youth levels to senior teams

2. Coaching Staff Management & Development
  1. Recruit, hire, and manage coaching staff across all Youth Club age groups, ensuring alignment with technical standards and club values.
  2. Serve as a mentor and educator for coaches, supporting professional growth and long-term development.
  3. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  4. Lead coach education initiatives, including clinics and professional development sessions.

3. Curriculum & Methodology
  1. Create, implement, and maintain a standardized coaching curriculum addressing technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development.
  2. Work with Directors to regularly update curriculum content to reflect evolving best practices and modern coaching methodologies.
  3. Ensure consistent application of curriculum and development standards across all teams.

4. Strategic Planning & Club Alignment
  1. Collaborate with executive leadership to define/execute the club's long-term technical vision.
  2. Develop short-term and long-term technical plans aligned with organizational objectives.
  3. Coordinate with the First Team and Academy staff to support player transitions and integration.

5. Community Engagement & Representation
  1. Serve as a technical ambassador for One Knox Youth Club within the community.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with local soccer organizations, schools, and governing bodies.
  3. Promote the club’s commitment to youth development, education, and community impact.
  4. Educate grassroots parents on Youth Club’s technical framework and development model.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10 years of elite youth coaching experience, including at least 5 years as a Coaching Director or 3 years as a Technical Director (Technical Director experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership within U.S. youth platforms (MLS NEXT, ECNL, and/or Girls Academy).
  • Experience as a coach educator with a proven development framework.
  • Track record of advancing players to collegiate, professional, or national-team pathways.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Minimum USSF B License or international equivalent.
