Position Summary/Objective:
The Head Athletic Trainer leads all aspects of player health, safety, and performance care. This role oversees injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions while ensuring league compliance. The Head Athletic Trainer serves as the key liaison between medical staff and coaching leadership to ensure seamless, coordinated care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
As Head Athletic Trainer, your primary duties shall be as follows:
- Provide clinical care to players, including but not limited to initial examination, diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of injuries.
- Collaborate with the Club's sports medicine service(s) to identify individual clinical treatment and rehabilitation strategies, goals, prognosis, and timelines based on best clinical evidence.
- Serve as the bridge between the training room and the pitch to allow for continuity of care including fostering communication with other components of the Club's sports medicine service(s) and the coaching staff.
- Work closely and in collaboration with club doctors/Elevate/high performance director.
- Perform as a certified athletic trainer in managing the health care of players in a safe, OSHA-compliant environment.
- Maintain a complete and up-to-date roster of Player health and participation records in an appropriate electronic medical record system.
- Organize physical examinations as required by USL and USL Academy • Comply with all USL medical policies, protocols, and game operations manual.
- Order, stock, and pack medical supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness of all training areas.
- Manage and maintain relationships with medical and S&C partners for organization and individual players.
- Manage and maintain Assistant Athletic Trainers and Interns.
