Grassroots Marketing Intern (Unpaid)

Position Summary
Miami FC is seeking a motivated and organized Grassroots Marketing Intern to assist with planning, coordinating, and executing community outreach initiatives throughout South Florida. This internship provides hands-on experience in sports marketing, event planning, grassroots engagement, and community relations while working alongside the Marketing Department.

The Grassroots Marketing Intern will play a key role in expanding Miami FC's presence in the community by organizing promotional events, building relationships with local organizations, coordinating Street Team appearances, and supporting fan engagement initiatives.

This is an unpaid internship. College credit may be available through your academic institution.

Responsibilities
  • Research, identify, and book community events, festivals, youth soccer tournaments, school functions, and local activations that align with Miami FC's marketing goals.
  • Coordinate Miami FC's participation in community events from initial outreach through event execution.
  • Communicate with event organizers regarding logistics, booth requirements, event schedules, and promotional opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain an event calendar for grassroots marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate Street Team staffing by scheduling interns and promotional staff for community appearances and activations.
  • Assist in planning and executing grassroots marketing campaigns designed to increase brand awareness and drive attendance to Miami FC matches.
  • Help organize promotional materials, giveaways, signage, tents, and activation equipment.
  • Track event attendance, community engagement, and promotional outcomes to help evaluate marketing efforts. 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Ticket Sales, and Community Relations departments on promotional initiatives.
  • Complete additional marketing and event-related projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Communications, Business, Event Management, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable communicating with community organizations and event partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with Canva is a plus.
  • Passion for sports, community engagement, and event planning.
  • Reliable transportation is preferred.

Internship Schedule
  • Expected commitment of 10–20 hours per week, depending on event schedules and academic availability.
  • Flexible scheduling around class schedules.
  • Must be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in event planning, customer service, marketing, or community outreach is preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of soccer and the South Florida community is beneficial.
