VA Revolution SC is seeking a dynamic and organized leader to join the club in a Phase Manager role. Phase Managers lead a team of youth travel coaches and their teams through their season and are responsible for week-to-week training and game management. Phase Managers will coordinate all league scheduling related to the teams in their age group while ensuring delivery of a high-quality and consistent experience across their teams. Phase Managers will engage closely with player parents and ensure the player experience on their teams align with the club’s brand and developmental philosophy.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Head Coach, Youth Travel Soccer
- Lead weekly training and game day coaching of 2-3 youth teams within your gender / age Phase
- Focus on athlete’s technical development through consistent delivery of club provided training sessions
- Maximize athlete performance by overseeing targeted physical conditioning programs for athletes
- Observe guidelines and protocols during practice sessions and games to help players to avoid injuries while performing at a high level
- Establish and maintain a culture of good sportsmanship, cooperation, and responsibility among athletes and coaching staff
- Communicate effectively with assistant coaches, athletes, and parents
Player Recruiting, Operations & Customer Service
- Player Identification and Registration Management: Oversee the player ID process for your teams, collect feedback from coaches and determine potential team placement while managing overall roster size and quality.
- League Logistics & Scheduling: Manage all logistical requirements, including booking fields internally, coordinating kickoff times with opponents, communicating game times, and coordinating equipment and supplies for your teams.
- Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for your coaches, parents and player issues, managing inquiries, feedback, and providing excellent customer service.
Staffing & Development
- Staff Recruitment: Recruit, hire, train, and manage travel coaches to your team
- Staff Management & Evaluation: Meet regularly with coaches to review individual team dynamics and results, review player movement potential and discuss club wide initiatives. Conduct regular evaluations of coaching staff to ensure high-quality instruction and adherence to the program curriculum and safety standards. Manage coach absences and coverage needs.
- Player Development: Develop working knowledge of all players within Phase, support head coaches in delivering player reviews and meet with Technical within your gender / age Phase
- Director regularly to discuss team/player dynamics
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years coaching in a competitive youth soccer environment. Experience with a professional or semi-professional soccer organization is highly desirable.
- Minimum USSF or UEFA C license. USSF or UEFA B are desirable.
- Administrative Skills: Comfortable with complex logistical scheduling.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in using registration software (i.e PlayMetrics), team management tools (i.e. Got Sport, League Apps), and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace applications.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with players, parents, staff, and external partners.
- Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred:
- Experience working directly with Youth Leagues (i.e. Girls Academy, MLS Next, National Academy League, National Capital Soccer League)
