The Communication & PR Specialist is a key member of the Loudoun United FC front office, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communication and public relations strategy. This individual will be the primary point of contact for media, manage the club's press operations, and create compelling content that amplifies our brand message. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer, a strategic thinker, and a proactive communicator with a passion for soccer and a deep understanding of the media landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Media Relations:
    • Serve as the primary media contact for all club inquiries.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.
    • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other official club statements.
    • Coordinate and manage media availability for players, coaches, and front office staff.
    • Manage gameday media operations, including credentialing, press box management, and post-match press conferences.

  • Content Creation & Management:
    • Create compelling and newsworthy content for the club's official website, including game recaps, feature stories, and press releases.
    • Work with the digital team to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms, including social media.
    • Assist in the production of video and multimedia content to support communication initiatives.

  • Public Relations Strategy:
    • Develop and execute a strategic communication plan to increase brand awareness and positive media coverage.
    • Identify and pitch story ideas to media outlets.
    • Track and report on media coverage and key performance indicators.
    • Manage and respond to public-facing communication channels, as needed.

  • Internal Communications:
    • Support internal communication efforts, ensuring consistent messaging across departments.
    • Assist in the creation of communication materials for partners, sponsors, and stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably in sports.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in media relations and building relationships with journalists.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, particularly on gamedays.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with content management systems (CMS) is preferred.
  • A positive attitude, a collaborative spirit, and a strong work ethic.
