Position Overview: 
Hartford Athletic is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our Merchandise & Operations team. This role will provide hands-on experience in game day operations, retail management, and event support, as well as in-office work focused on inventory tracking, trend research, and merchandise strategy. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in sports operations, merchandising, and fan engagement. 

Key Responsibilities: 
Game Day Retail Operations 
  • Deliver a high quality customer experience during all retail interactions 
  • Operate point of sale systems accurately during high volume sales periods 
  • Support merchandise setup, teardown, and presentation on matchdays 
  • Monitor product availability throughout events to maintain optimal inventory levels 
  • Assist with crowd flow, store organization, and visual standards 

Inventory Management
 
  • Conduct regular inventory counts before, during, and after events 
  • Support order fulfillment processes for retail and online purchases 
  • Maintain accurate inventory records across multiple sales channels 
  • Assist buying staff with daily inventory tracking tasks 

Merchandise Strategy and Visual Merchandising
 
  • Research merchandise trends within professional sports and fan retail markets 
  • Track fan purchasing behavior to support future product decisions 
  • Assist with store resets, product placement, and visual merchandising plans 
  • Support special merchandise activations tied to promotions or theme nights 

E Commerce and Office Support
 
  • Assist with e commerce shop updates including product listings and availability 
  • Process online orders and prepare shipments 
  • Track online sales performance and basic reporting metrics 
  • Complete assigned administrative tasks related to merchandise operations 

Collaboration and Event Support
 
  • Work alongside interns and full time staff during matches and events 
  • Support additional club events as assigned by operations leadership 
  • Represent Hartford Athletic professionally in all interactions 

Qualifications and Expectations
 
  • Strong interest in sports operations, merchandising, retail management, or event operations 
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work in fast paced environments 
  • Strong communication skills with a customer focused mindset 
  • Willingness to learn professional standards within a sport organization 
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by match schedules 
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds 
  • Reliable transportation to Trinity Health Stadium and other assigned locations 

Learning Outcomes

Requirements: 
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and events.
